Tamboti Satellite Camp - Kruger Park is a small camp situated on the banks of the Timbavati River, on the western boundary of the Kruger National Park, approximately 2km east of Orpen Rest Camp.
Due to the size and location of this camp, Tamboti is one of the most popular camps in the Park. A great feature is a boma, which makes it ideal for small groups of people to gather around the campfire and relive the animal sightings of the day. For the birding enthusiasts, Tamboti offers a bird hide in which to spend hours looking for that exclusive raptor that has up to now eluded you. The natural bush feeling is kept inside the camp, which has the result of emphasizing guest privacy.
Visitors have to report at the reception office at Orpen.

Accommodation at Tamboti Satellite Camp - Kruger Park
Budget Safari Tents
15 x 2-bed and 15 x 4-bed permanent furnished canvas tents on stilts, including a fridge, standing fan inside tent and small veranda. Communal ablutions and communal kitchens available.
Semi-luxury Safari Tents
10 x 3-bed permanent furnished canvas tents on stilts, fully equipped, with shower, fridge, cooking and braai facilities. It contains 1 double bed and a sleeper couch.
Tamboti camp is managed from Orpen camp and has no Reception area. Guests are required to report to Orpen camp for check-in.
Accommodation at Tamboti tented camp is ideal for backpacking, camping and caravanning communities looking for a self-catering bushveld experience.

Regulations when Exiting the Park:
In order to improve overall controls some changes have been made to the check-out process at camps in the Kruger National Park and your assistance and co-operation is kindly requested in this regard.
Guests are reminded that only guests with valid exit permits will be allowed to exit the park. For day visitors these are issued upon entry at gates and for overnight guests these are issued by the last camp on the guest itinerary.

- No cancellation fee will be incurred for cancellations made after payment of first deposit up to and including 46 days prior to arrival.
- Cancellation fees equal to 50% of the total reservation cost is payable in a case of cancellation made between 45 days and 30 days prior to arrival.
- Cancellation fee equal to 100% of the total reservation cost is payable in a case of a cancellation made between 29 days prior to and date of arrival
- 100% of the total cost for any non-arrival/no-shows
Reservation made within 45 days prior to arrival is payable within 24 hours from the day reservation is made.
- Conservation levy is always excluded from the booking amount and needs to be settled on arrival.
It is your responsibility to check if the reservation is correct. Should the reservation be incorrect, please contact our office immediately.
If the arrival date of the itinerary is postponed prior to or on date of arrival and then cancelled at a later stage, the fees that applied at the time of amendment will be enforced if the amount is greater than the new cancellation fees.
Cancelling or downgrading of a reservation 45 days prior to or on arrival will result in cancellation fees according to a sliding scale (based on the total reservation cost) which varies between 50% and 100%.
Should the reservation not be taken up on the arrival date the accommodation will be held until 09:00 the following day after which the reservation will be cancelled and the deposit, where applicable, forfeited.
From Johannesburg / Pretoria:
Orpen Gate
Head toward Nelspruit on the N4, take the R540 Belfast turn off. At Lydenburg turn left onto the R36 heading north. 30 km before Hoedspruit turn right onto the R531 and head to Orpen gate.
Allow between 4 to 5 hours for the trip to the gate.
Tamboti satellite camp is approximately 4 km away from the gate. Allow about 10 minutes for the drive to the camp.
