Umkumbe Lodge is situated in the Sabi Sand Private Reserve which is an area that has the greatest diversity of wildlife in Africa.

The Sabi Sand is the oldest and most successful private game reserve in South Africa. It was founded in the 1950s by a group of private individual land owners. The reserve is about 65000 hectares bordering the Kruger National Park.

Sabi-Sand is home to a wide verity of animals, this includes the famous big 5. With no barrier between the reserve and Kruger National Park the game viewing is spectacular.

Experience this wildlife on guided walks and game drives under the guidance of an expert ranger.

Accommodation at Umkumbe Lodge:
Our Accommodation units comprises each with two single beds or king size bed on request, en-suite bathrooms, own private patios and each fitted with an air conditioner.

a waterhole in front of room.

Activities:

- We offer you a thrilling night game drive which enable you to spot the reserve's nocturnally active wildlife.
- Dining in a traditional boma around a roaring fire is one of the most enjoyable Sabi Sand activities.

Clothing and Accessories:

The seasons in the Southern Hemisphere are directly opposite to those of the Northern Hemisphere.

For summer months, lightweight (cotton and linens), short sleeved clothes are best, although a light jersey / jumper might be needed for the winter months.

Health and Climate:

This is a malaria area and the necessary pre-cautions have to be taken. Government do spray the lodge for mosquito control a few times a year.

Cancellation Policy:

Should any reservation be cancelled, a cancellation fee will apply as follows:
- 25 % cancellation fee if cancelled 28 days and less prior to arrival
- 50 % cancellation fee if cancelled 21 days and less prior to arrival
- 75 % cancellation fee if cancelled 14 days and less prior to arrival
- 100 % cancellation fee if cancelled 7 days and less prior to arrival or no show

Directions:

Taking the the N4 or the N12 from Johannesburg:
- Travel past Witbank to Nelspruit, from there the R40 takes you to Whiteriver and then to Hazyview.

- At Hazyview, take the R536 towards the Paul Kruger Gate and Skukza. After 37km you will see the Mala Mala,Ulusaba, Saws Gate signs. Turn left onto a dirt road.

- Travel for 7km and you will get to the Sabi Sand reserve gate (Shaws Gate) Go through the gate and follow the Luilekker, Herman and Nollie signs.

- This will lead you to Umkumbe Lodge.
