Nestled deep in the heart of the Karoo, conveniently located along many of South Africa`s national roads, lies an oasis of relaxation and tranquility.

The Transkaroo Country Lodge welcomes you to the Karoo and would take immense pleasure in hosting you, whether it be a stop-over en-route to a major city or just a peaceful holiday you require.

With just about a hundred years of heritage and history under the lodge`s belt, you can be certain that at the Transkaroo Country Lodge, it`s remarkably welcoming staff will do everything in their power to make your stay a unforgettable and relaxing one.

The Lodge was originally established as a corrugated iron structure that catered as a stopover for the diggers traveling to and from the diamond fields at Kimberley. The current building was erected in 1945 and it became a favourite vacation place, drawing mainly Jewish clientele from both the Reef and Cape Town.

The current owners gave the building a full facelift, and made quite extensive alterations. The decor was changed to an elegant and comfortable homely atmosphere.

Guests are pampered and spoiled with wholesome Karoo food from a restaurant that has twice received a coveted international award for cuisine excellence. Accommodation is in the form of both elegant, budget and suite rooms equipped with air conditioners, uniquely designed and tastefully decorated.

A very decent half-way stop. Very relaxed atmosphere. The room was very neat and clean and the staff friendly. Vehicles can be parked behind a locked gate adding peace of mind. Will definitely recommend this establishment and visit it again when I need a half-way stop when traveling on the same road.
