Found in the Limpopo Province of South Africa, this unique, intimate and extremely diverse 5500-hectare wilderness area on top of the Soutpansberg Mountains is fondly called Sigurwana meaning “Close to Heaven”.  Extremely eco-friendly, using spring water and solar-powered energy, the lodge is lovingly crafted with natural materials from the surrounding Sigurwana Wilderness Reserve, including rounded rock walls that follow the flow of nature and a thatch roof that blends seamlessly with the ecological environment.

Sigurwana Lodge enhances the authentic back-to-nature experience guests enjoy at the impressive mountain-top wilderness reserve.  Guests have a choice of uniquely designed chalets, a safari tent, and the Ystervark suite that can accommodate between 2 to 4 people.  Tea and coffee facilities, home-baked biscuits, fresh mountain water and morning gowns are provided in all of the units.

The chalets are furnished with twin beds and offer en-suite bathrooms with showers, outdoor showers, and open onto lovely verandahs with deck chairs.  Each chalet also has its own distinctive colour scheme and charm.  The elevated safari tent has a lantern-lit wooden deck, and comprises 2 bedrooms furnished with twin beds, that can convert to a king-size bed in the main room, and a cosy lounge area.  The rooms have a shower and bath en-suite, and 2 outdoor showers are also available.

Ystervark is a creative structure furnished with twin beds, and has an en-suite bathroom, as well as an outdoor shower.  The unit has a cosy fireplace, opens onto a covered verandah and has a top deck where guests can relax.  The unique lodge accommodation provides guests with beautiful views across spectacular swathes of natural scenic beauty and is the ideal place from which to explore the vast range of fascinating indigenous creatures and plants.

Sigurwana is a true botanical paradise with more than 320 different species of trees, including an ancient forest, as well as rare cycads, and provides a haven for leopard, Samango, monkeys, baboons, bush pig, crowned eagle, and a bounty of other birds.  Game drives on an open Landcruiser and guided walks are the best way to explore the bush and can be arranged at any time.  The personal attention of your game ranger provides an unforgettable wildlife experience and great insight into the unspoiled splendour of Sigurwana Wilderness.  Our ranger also cares for our guests’ particular interests, such as photography.
