The Sabie River rises in the West in the Drakensburg mountains at an altitude of 2200m. The Sabie River has a total length of about 230km. The area of the Sabie catchment is 7096 km. The Sabie river, originally known as `ULUSABA` (the river of Fear) obtained its original name from the raging waters and many crocodiles in the river.

Take the N12 from Johannesburg or N4 from Pretoria to Nelspruit. At Nelspruit take the R40 to White River, proceed through White River on the R40 to Hazyview.
At the 3-way stop turn left into the town of Hazyview. Proceed to the 2nd robot, R536, turn right on the R536, sign posted Kruger Gate. Proceed along the R536 for 24km's Sabie River Bush Lodge is on your right hand side.
Climate
Sabie River Bush Lodge enjoys a sub-tropical climate, with an annual rainfall of 500mm to 700mm falling between October and April.
Temperatures are generally hot in summer. Summer rains in October transform the dry grasses into vivid green.
Winter and Spring are popular seasons for viewing game from the raised pool deck at Sabie River Bush Lodge as the animals congregate at the river.
