Plains Camp @ Rhino Walking Safaris and Rhino Post Safari Lodge form part of a private wilderness concession just north of Skukuza in the Kruger National Park, offering exclusive walking trails and game drive safaris. The park is home to an impressive number of species, has an amazing 16 different ecosystems, and ranks as a prime Big Five game viewing area.
Plains Camp prides itself on specialised walking safaris in a Big Five area. Our knowledgeable guides will accompany guests on morning and evening walks through the bush - the most intimate way to experience a true Kruger safari. The Camp itself looks out onto a grassy plain where animals come and go as they please, frequenting the waterhole nearby. While at Plains Camp, guests can choose to spend a night at our Sleep-Out Decks. This involves a 1-hour guided safari walk from camp to elevated decks overlooking the Xiteveteve waterhole. This is a rare opportunity to spend a night under canvas and stars, fully immersed in the wild after dark. Guests sleep on raised platforms, connected by ladders and walkways to each other, the bathrooms and the main deck. Dinner is cooked over the open fire. Prior arrangement is required for all Sleep-Outs. Sleep-Outs are weather dependent and the minimum age for this activity is 12 years old. If the first party of guests to make a reservation requests a Sleep-Out, all subsequent reservations will be required to participate. Likewise, if the first guest does not want to do a Sleep-Out, then all subsequent reservations for those dates will be unable to do the Sleep-Out activity. From Rhino Post, guests can enjoy morning and evening game drives on our concession and Kruger’s roads. This is a rare opportunity to experience Kruger at sunrise and sunset, when other visitors aren’t allowed to enter the park yet. A night at the Sleep-Out Decks is also available from Rhino Post Safari Lodge as an optional activity. This involves a 1-hour safari game drive to the Sleep-Out Decks and the minimum age of participants is 8 years old. There is no extra cost for a group of 4 or more. For 3 or less guests a surcharge will be levied.

Proceed straight across for another 2km until you reach a T-junction. Turn left at this junction and continue for approximately 1km until you reach another four-way crossing, turn right. You will cross a low water bridge (over Sabi River), approximately 4km later you will cross the Sand River. Keep heading straight, past the dirt road on the left signposted Marula Loop, 6km further, you will pass another dirt road, also signposted Marula Loop. Approximately 1km after the second dirt road you will see a dirt road on the left signposted Rhino Walking Safaris. Take this turning and proceed for 2.5km, the road will then turn sharply left, after which you will travel another 2.7km, leading you directly to Rhino Post.
