Porcupine Ridge Guest House - Our relaxed country escape lies tucked away in the mountains at the heart of the scenic Panorama Route of Mpumalanga, yet only 5 minutes from the amenities of Sabie village and 40 minutes from the world famous Kruger National Park.

Perched above an old Gold Mine and part of the original mining village, our historic homestead has been extensively remodelled to create a stylish yet informal retreat for lovers of life ....in the slow lane.

Breakfast is a tempting selection from the light and healthy to over the top indulgence, served in the original dining hall or on the deep covered veranda with its glorious views of our two acre garden and the surrounding hills.

Accommodation at Porcupine Ridge Guest House:
Five immaculate en-suite bedrooms have all the comforts and our welcoming guest lounge with deep comfy chairs, satellite television, library and cosy fireplace is just the place to relax with a sun downer, or to curl up with a good book.

Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with either bath, with shower over, or shower only. All have seating areas and beverage trays with teas, coffee, hot chocolate and rusks.

Hairdryers, clock radios, ceiling fans, wall heaters, electric blankets, 2 pin Euro sockets and generous bath sheets and amenities are provided in every room.

Quality queen or twin (3/4) beds have white percale linen with pure silk duvets in summer and cosy duck-down duvets in winter. Each room sleeps two and one has an extra single sleeper couch.

Please note an additional charge will be levied on single nights at weekends and all long weekends.

Activities:

Sabie is the gateway to the popular Panorama Route with the spectacular Blyde River Canyon, Bourkes Luck Potholes, Gods Window and many beautiful waterfalls.

The quaint gold rush village of Pilgrims Rest can be visited on the return journey. To the south of Sabie, Sudwala Caves, oldest known caves in the world, are not to be missed.

From wildlife encounters in the Kruger Park to golf at some of the world's premier courses, from adrenalin rush activities to scenic drives and heritage trips, you can experience the proudly South African way of life and colourful tribal heritage.

Mpumalanga is home to Africa's big Five with many amazing bush experiences for holiday memories that will last a lifetime. Kruger Park and a number of private game reserves can be reached in under an hour from Porcupine Ridge.

The 'Greater Panorama' and 'Lowveld' Birding Routes are within easy reach of Porcupine Ridge offering a variety of habitats.

Visitors are welcome at any of 7 golf courses in the area. Tennis, squash, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, trout fishing and a host of other outdoor activities and facilities are available.

Adrenalin junkies will find 4x4 Trails; Quad biking; Motorbike outrides; Mountain biking; White water rafting; Tubing; Geckoing; Bridge swing; Abseiling; Kloofing; Caving; Hiking trails; Game trails and Horse trails less than an hour from our guest house.

A rich tapestry of experiences can be enjoyed which include visits to a Cultural Village, Coffee Farm, Silk Farm, Rose Farm and Winery Tours, Country Shopping, Craft markets, Artist's Studios and shops, restaurants, cinemas & casino within 1 hour's drive.

Cancellation Policy:

- Within 7 days of arrival date - 100% of full cost of stay.
- 8 to 21 days of arrival date - 50% of full cost of stay.
- If the room is re-booked, deposits may be refunded at our discretion minus a R200 handling fee.

Directions:

From Johannesburg (OR Tambo International Airport):
Take the R21 towards Boksburg. Join the N12 Witbank Highway. This road merges with and becomes the N4.
Turn left off the N4 at Belfast onto the R540 to Dullstroom.
Continue on the R540 to Lydenburg then turn right onto the R37 to Sabie via the Long Tom Pass.
On entering Sabie turn right at the first Stop street into Louis Trichard Street then right again at the next Stop street.
You are now on the R536 Hazyview Road.
Continue down this road for 4km and you will see our sign to turn right.
Follow the gravel road up the hill for 1km to Porcupine Ridge - 5 Vanaxe Estate, Hazyview Road, Sabie.
