When building Iketla, minimal impact of development on the natural environment, was of the utmost importance. The result being a comfortable retreat set amidst nature in its purest form. The surroundings and infrastructure add to the overall feel of relaxation and tranquillity.
Iketla Lodge offers a very informal and relaxed environment. By limiting guests to 18 per day, we guarantee exceptional personal service and a total experience which we trust our guests will remember for many years.
Iketla literally means “be relaxed” and the facilities at the lodge encourage guests to do exactly that. A central thatched area houses the lounge, dining area and bar. It has stunning views of the surrounding mountains. An open sundeck overlooks the sparkling pool.
Enjoy the natural scenery, large variety of birds or even spot wild animals that roam freely in the area.
Rates include a Continental / English breakfast served in the dining area as well as a three course dinner. A light lunch at nominal cost, is available between 13:00 and 14:00 and can be ordered from the lunch menu.
Iketla Lodge is situated a mere 4 hours drive from Johannesburg, en-route to the Kruger National Park and many private game reserves and lodges.
Using natural material where possible - stone from the farm, traditional African thatched grass roofs - the accommodation units where designed and built to ensure maximum comfort, luxury, space and privacy.
The patio provides magnificent views of the valley below, mountains, cliffs and indigenous forests.
Rooms have been furnished with ultimate comfort in mind: a choice of a queen sized bed or two twin beds, tea / coffee facilities and a comfortable reading area. Carefully chosen African décor and accessories give it a feeling of serenity and elegance.
Unique en-suite bathrooms provide a stone-built shower, hand-made ceramic basin set in a hardwood slab and a separate toilet. Guests can also enjoy an outdoor shower with views of the surrounding mountains - very private and exotic.
Cottages have been built on the edge of a small rise and each offers a secluded look-out-point - the ideal place to spend a romantic hour or two.
“The very nature of Iketla Lodge and the tranquil environment make it unsuitable for young children. We regret to advise that children under 8 cannot be accommodated at Iketla unless by prior arrangement.
