Area Info:

The San Sebastian Peninsula, situated along the Indian Ocean coastline of Mozambique, is a spectacular holiday paradise revered for its pristine beauty and its place within The Sanctuary. This unique destination offers tourists an authentic blend of secluded beach escape and rich wilderness adventure, positioning it as the perfect gateway to the renowned Bazaruto Archipelago National Park. The peninsula’s remote location ensures a sense of tranquil exclusivity, far removed from the bustle of the modern world. Characterised by shimmering turquoise seas, powder-white sand beaches, and a vibrant mosaic of terrestrial and marine habitats, the area is an ecological marvel. The Sanctuary, which encompasses both the land and surrounding ocean, is home to a host of reintroduced large mammals, including Livingstone’s Eland, Kudu, Giraffe, and Zebra, which can be spotted on dedicated game drives. An elevated point known as “World’s View” provides breathtaking panoramas of this diverse ecosystem. The marine environment is equally captivating, thriving with an abundance of life. The clear, warm waters are a sanctuary for the critically endangered Dugong, as well as Green, Leatherback, and Loggerhead turtles. Visitors often encounter playful dolphins, manta rays, and, seasonally, the majestic Humpback whales. This rich biodiversity makes it a world-class destination for water-based activities such as snorkelling, deep-sea fishing, and scuba diving along the coral reefs of the nearby Bazaruto islands. Guests can also explore the tranquil mangrove estuaries by kayak or take a traditional dhow safari to isolated sand-spits and fishing villages, creating unforgettable moments of barefoot luxury and natural discovery.
