Experience game drives in the Kruger National Park, walks amongst wild animals, stargazing in the African sky, open air dining and bird watching. Hippo Hills is located within the fences of the Kruger National Park and visitors, while lounging in the private swimming pool, have spotted all the Big 5. Hippo Hills sits on a riverbed where the bird-life is magnificent - lie on the deck and hear the distinct call of the African Fish Eagle.

Hippo Hills accommodates ten guests in five private bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. Upstairs has three large bedrooms; one double room and two twin bedrooms. These lead to a large viewing deck and bar area where visitors can enjoy a sunset drink while watching a variety of bird and animal life.

Health and Climate:
Hippo Hills is situated in a low risk malaria area with isolated reports from December to April. For the remainder of the year, many people rather try to avoid getting bitten (insect repellent / stay indoors / anti-bug candles). Please consult your private doctor.

Hippo Hills is just 4 hours drive from O.R. Tambo (Johannesburg) Airport and close to both Swaziland and Mozambique borders. The house is part of a large resort called Ngwenya Lodge and daily activities can be arranged such as Elephant Back Safari, Micro-lighting, Game Drives, Quad Biking and Tiger Fishing. The lodge offers both local and international guests a superior living environment enhanced by an impressive Big 5 safari experience. Our guest's have full access to Tennis courts, swimming pools, a restaurant, pub, beauty salon, entertainment area, bat houses, bird hides, children's game center, a convenience store, putt-putt course and much more.

Our visitors are also welcome to go into the Crocodile Bridge Gate, Kruger Park (10 minutes away) on a self-drive or an open-vehicle game drive organised directly with Crocodile Bridge. The more adventurous can experience the unique thrill of a foot safari accompanied by an armed game ranger and Shangaan tracker who will walk the bush with you, show you how to stalk impala and the short-sighted rhinoceros or chuckle at the antics of a family of monkeys.

Often you do not need to go for a drive as most of the game can be seen from your private patio. All day, relax around the rim-flow infinity swimming pool with its crystal clear water, or put your feet up with a good book on the special viewing deck overlooking swaying riverine vegetation - the natural habitat for elephant, buffalo, hippo, leopard and an abundance of buck.

The photos and write ups on the Internet do not do this place justice. We thought it would be nice, but it was so much more! Beautiful home, beautiful yard, beautiful location. We planned to spend our days doing self drives in Kruger but found it too hard to leave the pool. Watched all the wildlife right from the deck. A perfect way to end our holiday.
