Hawklee Country House offers thatched accommodation in spacious free standing luxury double cottages in Fort Nottingham near Nottingham Road Meander. All accommodation is en-suite and features a private romantic Jacuzzi spa bath.
Mallard:
Our Honeymoon suite offers superb river views and features a mezzanine lounge area from which you can relax with an excellent view of the Lions River, four poster bed with drapes gives this chalet a true romantic feel.
Guinea Fowl:
A more secluded thatched cottage for those wanting some privacy, our favorite honeymoon cottage with a garden outlook and private balcony overlooking the Lions River.
Rose Cottage:
This delightful cottage offers complete privacy and is set in the gardens of the main country house, but does not have a view of the Lions River.
The Owl & Pussycat:
A spacious cottage set in the gardens with a lovely queen bed that you can relax in while looking at the view of the Lions River. The spacious lounge area has 2 leather couches which serve as sleeper couches.
Kingfisher:
This newly decorated cottage in its lovely beige and golds offers a beautiful view of the Lions River while you rest in a lovely queen bed. The sitting area has a leather sleeper couch. The spa bath overlooks the Lions river with a spectacular view.
Otter:
This newly decorated cottage in its burgundy paisley and corduroy offers a beautiful view of the Lions River while you rest in a lovely queen bed. The sitting area has a leather sleeper couch.
The management at Hawklee reserves the right to change cottages for “best-fit” if necessary. 100% payment is required for the booking. Dinner from a set menu is available on request and need to be booked directly. Your dietary preference must be noted at the time of booking to ensure that we are able to accommodate you in this regard. Check-in time is strictly from 14h00 and Check-out time is 10h00 Procedure for Arrival of guests to book in: - Guest arrives in their vehicle & park in parking area. - The guest remains in their vehicle until a Hawklee Country House (HCH) staff member invites them in and leads them to the new reception area. - The guest/s will the be shown to their chalet/s & given all the required. - Cardholder & ID/Passport is required at check-in / preferably prior to arrival - Credit card used for online payment to be present at check-in.
From the N3 take the Nottingham Road (after Mooi River Toll Plaza) turn off on the left, at top of the off ramp turn right and follow the road for about 8km’s on your left you will see The Junction Complex, turn right, travel under the railway line and take a left into Fort Nottingham Road. (Engen Garage and Spar will be on your right) Continue for approximately 10kms on the tar road, you will see the Hawklee Country House sign, the road becomes a gravel road. Continue for about 3kms on the gravel road. The entrance to Hawklee is the 2nd green gate to your left after you have crossed the river. From Durban King Shaka Airport Take The N3 to Durban, then at the intersection take Pietermaritzburg, carry on the N3 through Pietermaritzburg until the Nottingham Road turn off From the N3 take the Nottingham Road turn off on the left, at top of the off ramp turn right and follow the road for about 8km’s on your left you will see The Junction Complex, turn right, travel under the railway line and take a left into Fort Nottingham Road. (Engen Garage and Spar will be on your right) Continue for 10kms on the tar road, do not TURN OFF THE ROAD, you will see the Hawklee Country House sign, the road becomes a gravel road. Continue for about 3kms on the gravel road. The entrance to Hawklee is the 2nd green gate to your left after you have crossed the river. It will take +- 2 hours to get to us from the airport.
Kids can be accommodated in all but 2 rooms. Don’t have sleeper in Mallard and Guineafowl.

Children aged between 3 and 11 pay 50% of the sliding scale rate.
