We stayed at the Catembe Hotel in December 2011 and had a memorable stay! It is perfect with children. Parents can have a drink on the terrace while the children are playing in the pool. It the same time it is a very romantic place with nice view on the sea and illuminated Maputo at night!! Staff is friendly, rooms are clean, the ferry to get there is a nice adventure and bring you easily to/from downtown. The compact rooms are a little small but if you are on a budget it is a good price for the quality and amazing view and location.

Catembe Gallery Hotel is a great place to stay when you want to visit Maputo but still looking for calm. Service was great, perfect setting for family (pool, jungle gym). It is a good value for the money and the ferry trip to get there is fun! The only negative point are that rooms we had were a little small and aircon not really working. But they were very helpful and we ended up in a great room.

I dealt with several employees by telephone prior to the group visit, all of whom were incredibly polite, professional and helpful. And the group was very happy with their stay at Catembe - thank you!

I found the general conditions of the hotel to be very relaxing and well presented, the location on the beach is perfect Two things that were an inconvenience: 1. The ferry has a curfew, so we could not spend as much time out as we wanted to, we had to always worry about not missing it and having to do the long drive around. 2. On Friday the 10th we got back to the hotel just before 11pm and found the main entrance locked with no one on site to open for us, we just got lucky because one of the customers in the hotel had stayed up reading and heard our frantic knocks, else we would have slept in the car?
