The camp can only accommodate ten guests at any one time in the luxuriously equipped large tents, all with en-suite bathrooms, outside showers, ceiling fans and private game viewing decks. Mini-bar fridges, coffee or tea stations and fireplaces add to the comfort of every tent. The attentive staff are at your beck and call at all times.
The central common area consists of a charming lounge and open deck where guests can relax while sipping a cool drink as the wild game wanders past. A splash pool is an added comfort to enjoy in the heat of the summer, after a memorable guided walk into the pristine wilderness around the camp.
Dining is also a special time at Shonga and most meals are taken outdoors under the clear African skies, while sitting around a blazing fire, listening to the enchanting tales and experiences of the local community.
The camp is in constant radio contact with the main camp at Shishangeni but has no other telephonic communication available.
Excellent stay at Shishangeni, we were upgraded to Camp Shawu which was lovely. Staff were attentive and hospitable, fantastic game drives, very enjoyable.
