Located approximately 4 hours from O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, the final leg of the journey includes 42 km of gravel road, taking about 1 hour and 45 minutes to navigate. For this reason, we strongly recommend traveling in a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle (SUV or pickup), as the route is remote and off the beaten track.

Summer (Oct–Mar): Warm to hot days (28–35°C), with occasional afternoon thunderstorms. Mornings and evenings are cooler and pleasant.
Winter (May–Aug): Dry and sunny with chilly mornings and evenings (5–15°C). Daytime temperatures are comfortable (20–25°C).

Travel Time:

Final Stretch:
From the Visgat R33 turnoff to Molapo Safari Lodge is a 42 km dirt road. Travel time for this section is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Vehicle Recommendation:
We strongly recommend using a high-clearance vehicle (SUV or bakkie) as the final stretch is off the beaten track and may be rough in places.
Step-by-Step Directions:
From O.R. Tambo Airport, take the R21 North toward Pretoria.
Merge onto the N1 North toward Polokwane.
Take the Modimolle / R101 off-ramp and proceed through Modimolle town.
Continue on the R33 North toward Vaalwater and Lephalale.
Pass through Vaalwater town.
After approximately 60 km, look for the Visgat turnoff on your left.
Turn left onto the dirt road (Visgat Road).
Follow the signs or GPS coordinates provided for the remaining 42 km to reach Buccara Waterberg – Molapo.
