Nice stay.

This safari far exceeded what we were expecting. We understood that it was rated 3 star and that the accommodations were rustic. We found the accommodations to be excellent. The staff looked after us very well and handled anything we needed. We arrived 2 hours early but they were ready for us and were out front to welcome us. We spent a relaxing afternoon watching the lions down the beach a leopard relaxing in the sun off to the side and a African or Cape buffalo right out front of us. By 4 pm the limos had decided to stock the buffalo and took it down right in front of us. The drives were amazing and we saw all of the big 5 more than once. We saw the ugly 5 as well and lots for birds and ground animals. As avid hunters the men in the group were very excited to say the least. And the morning we had to leave Lezel gave us a thrilling ride across the property so that we could see a male leopard stocking a warthog. The meals were wonderful filling and adventurous with authentic South African food. We were well looked after and would recommend Umkumbe Lodge anyone and all of our friends.

Compared with the neighbour lodges, like Mala-Mala, it is very cheap and really good enough, if you focus on game-viewing.
