Malelane is a small town in Mpumalanga close to the Kruger National Park. It is only 43km from the Mocambique border and the Swaziland border at Matsomo is also only 43km away..

Only a couple of kilometers outside Malelane is one of the gates to Kruger Park making it possible to use Malelane as base whilst exploring the southern parts of the Kruger Park. Game drives and walks are just some of the activities offered and the large variety of indigenous plants and trees make the area a very good spot for bird lovers.

Malelane was proclaimed in 1949 and the name was corrupted from the swazi expression "eMlalani" which means place of the palms.

Agriculture, such as sugar, is the main economy in this region,, although there are also numerous farms producing subtropical fruit and winter vegetables. It is the centre of the sugar-growing industry in Mpumalanga.

The town has a shopping mall with most of the national brands. Many more affluent Mocambicans do their shopping here.

Travellers who remembered to pack their clubs can enjoy nine holes at the Malelane Golf Course, which is almost always in good condition.
