The Groot Eiland cellar is some 16km from Worcester and 1km from Rawsonville.
Groot Eiland Wine Cellar was founded in with 13 members. The unusual name Groot Eiland (big island) developed from the fact that the Celler and its farms were literally surrounded by water.
The Molenaars River divided in two just beyond the Du Toitskloof Mountains.
This is also the reason why one finds the deep fertile alluvial soil here. Lush growth is obtained through our high potential soil. Groot Eiland members managed to maintain a healthy balance between the vegetative faculty and the yield and produce good fruity wines.
Cellar tours by appointment only on weekdays - up to 30 people can be accommodated. Braai facilities available.
