Wild Rose Country Lodge
lies beyond the unspoiled wetlands, five kilometres of crisp white beach stretched, lazily beckoning me closer.
I continued to admire the scenery from the pleasant position of a foam bath.
Once refreshed I made my way to the Wild Rose Country Lodge intimate bar for a sundowner or two as the glowing orb slipped quietly into the sea.
Later I drew closer to the log fire in the lounge and relaxed while my host made arrangements for dinner at a fabulous seafood restaurant which overlooked the Indian Ocean.
Up early I started the day with a full breakfast served in the sunny herb-filled courtyard. I then had the fun task of deciding how to spend my time; a gallop on the beach, take in a wine farm or two, or a round of golf perhaps?
After all this activity a calming Indian Head massage or Thai full body massage is an absolute must! Once again my host at Wild Rose Country Lodge, eager to please, organised everything possible.
A drink at sunset, dinner at the lodge in front of a roaring fire. Very Romantic.
My suite was one of several, each tastefully and individually decorated. Each with glorious sea or mountain.
Accommodation at Wild Rose Country Lodge:
The rooms are all individually themed and decorated with elegance, comfort and attention to detail. Each room has a spacious en-suite bathroom, television with M-Net and telephone. African:
As you set foot into the African room, you can almost hear the distant beat of drums that are so much part of our culture. The four poster bed complete with mosquito net insures that those African beasts are kept at bay during the dreaming hours.
The Punjab room complete with its warm, bright décor and elephant lamps conjures up the aromatic spiciness of the Indian Sub-Continent. The thatch and beautiful green hues of the surrounding countryside contrast beautifully with the warm décor of this room.
The magnificent contrast of deep blues and terracotta create a very calm and relaxed atmosphere in this room.
Walking into this room is like stepping into a Kalahari sunset, with rag-washed walls reminiscent of drifting sands. Although fearful looking to some, the African masks hang on the walls, keeping a watchful eye on our precious surrounds.
Beyond the sea:
Shaded from the heat of the African sun, the cool ocean blues serve only as a temptation for one to venture onto the poolside patio and gaze at the Atlantic Ocean beyond.
I regret we do not cater for children under the age of 5 years.
