Just inland from the scheduled harbour of Saldanha Bay one finds the azure waters of the Langebaan Lagoon, focal point of the West Coast National Park.

Thousands of seabirds roost on the sheltered islands, pristine golden beaches stretch endlessly into the early morning mist and brooding salt marshes are home to vast concentrations of migrant waders from the northern hemisphere.

During the spring the strandveld is embroidered with a tapestry of multi-hued flowers, while in the Postberg section many antelope are to be seen in a setting that is as unique as it is idyllic.

Beautiful view; good to swim in the lagoon. Good service - clean towels every day - well equipped.

This is the third time we (husband + 2 small kids) have visited this lovely houseboat in the idyllic Kraalbaai - and we plan to go again next year. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the house is in good condition. My only suggestions are that a few more kitchen utensils would be helpful (e.g. some reasonably sharp knives and a decent firm spatula), as would a rowboat for Laurus. Everything else was perfect.

The houseboat Laurus has a superb location and provides a unique holiday experience. We absolutely loved it (for the second time). The boat is quite spacious, the beds and bedding are very comfortable and the staff who run the tender (Derrick in our case) are very helpful. My only complaint is that the kitchen could be better equipped with, for example, a salad bowl, a mixing bowl and some sharper knives. However, we managed without these and had a wonderful long weekend. I wish it was longer...

It was a wonderful, peaceful holiday. The accommodation was very comfortable. My only complaint was that the advertised row boat was missing, so we had to rely on Patrick for transport to the shore. Though he was very helpful, I would prefer to be a bit more independent and I really like rowing! Otherwise, the kitchen was well equipped and the house boat was very well designed.
