Nestled in Stellenbosch’s Golden Triangle, Webersburg is a refined, family-owned wine estate that fuses timeless Cape Dutch charm with contemporary hospitality. Begun in 1693 as Groenerivier, the property has a rich viticultural lineage. The Cape Dutch character formed in the late 18th century, with an elegant homestead and a historic cellar dating back to 1786. As a designated national monument, Webersburg stands as a living testament to the Winelands’ heritage. Today, the estate is celebrated as a boutique winery and guesthouse, renowned for its historic architecture and deep-rooted connection to the region’s wine culture.
Perched on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain, Webersburg benefits from cool sea breezes and soils rich in decomposed granite. The estate remains proudly family-owned and operated, reflected in its warm, personal approach to hospitality and wine. Whether you’re seeking a private escape, a corporate hospitality experience, or a memorable celebration, Webersburg offers a complete destination of wine, food, and refined living.
Our philosophy centers on moments that linger. We provide luxurious five-star guesthouse accommodations, versatile event venues, and premier wedding packages—each designed to honor the estate’s heritage while delivering modern elegance. Our limited-production wines express a clear sense of place, balancing character with restraint to reflect our terroir.
Webersburg boasts a wine-making heritage spanning over 219 years, with Abraham Bastian at the forefront of the estate’s early winemaking. Groenerivier Farm was established in 1689, and in 1693 it was officially granted as an estate by Simon van der Stel, the first Governor of the Cape Colony.
Renowned for its Cabernet Sauvignon, Webersburg benefits from world-class terroir shaped by rich soils, cool sea breezes, and protection from the prevailing south-easterly winds. The dominant soil type, decomposed shale, contributes to the wine’s complex structure and a distinct terroir-driven minerality.
