Val du Charron Wine and Leisure Estate Guesthouse
- Nestling at the foot of the Groenberg mountain, the town of Wellington lies in the picturesque Bovlei Valley on the banks of the Kromme River with the majestic Hawequa Mountains - silent sentinels on its eastern border. However, Wellington was not always known by this name.
Originally known as Limiet Valley (border or frontier valley), the area became known as Val Du Charron (Valley of the Wagonmaker) towards the end of the 17th century when the French Huguenots settled in the area bringing with them the art of wine making.
It was also here that wagons could receive their last attention before the start of the long and difficult journey into the unknown hinterland. At Val du Charron Wines the pioneering spirit of South Africa`s first wine makers and explorers lives on in our wines.

For a holistic view of the wine making process or simply to enjoy the tranquillity of the farm, a number of walks have been set up around the farm that highlight aspects such as the various cultivars of wine grown, the bee hives necessary to pollinate the vines and the dams that catch and supply the farm with all its water.
Guests may also fish the dams for bass on a catch and release basis. For the business traveler or intimate function a 20 seater conference room is available for your meeting or party.
During the winter months a large fire place with couches provides ambiance for card games or reading while sipping on a glass of Val du Charron’s premium wine.
