THE OLD HATCHERY - UNDERBERG

Affordable and comfortable B&B and self-catering accommodationjust 10 KM from Underberg in the Southern Drakensberg. We provide free parking, free wi-fi and an al-a carte restaurant on site. Our tranquil setting, located near horse riding trails, mountain biking trails, hiking routes, golf courses, trout fishing waters and of course the famous Sani Pass.

We are situated 1,5 hours from Howick on the N3 Route and 1 hour from Kokstad, making Underberg the ideal location from which to explore the majestic mountains of the Southern Drakensberg. We are on the route between Johannesburg and seaside resorts of the South Coast and Wild Coast making this the ideal location to stopover for the night.

We offer bed and breakfast, room only, self-catering and full board options in our various units.

Bed and Breakfast:There are 15 comfortableen-suite rooms that can be set as king or twin beds. All rooms have bathroom/shower facilities, tea/coffee trays and televisions with DStv.

Kingfisher:
A self-catering unit popular for families and small group. There is 2 rooms with queen beds and one room with three twin beds. All rooms are en-suite. The kitchen is fully equipped, lounge with TV opens onto verandah with views of the Southern Drakensberg in the far distant.

Otters Den:
This is a self-catering cottage which is a popular choice for families and small groups.There is one kingsize room with TV and the other two rooms can either be twin or kingsize. One of these rooms have TV. Kitchen/lounge open plan and kitchen completeonto a verandah with views of mountains.

Fishing cabins: We have 3 of these delightful little cabins that are suitable for couples. Each of them has a bathroom, kitchenette and braai facilities. From the parking area, you walk along the wooden decking and over our gorgeous little waterfall to get to the cabins.

Directions:

- From the N3 between Pietermaritzburg and Howick, take the R617 that says Southern Drakensberg, Underberg. Drive 111km to Underberg.

- Drive straight through the village for 4km and turn right onto the tar road that says Drakensberg Gardens Resorts. Drive 6km and you will see Ridgedale on your right.

- From Kokstad you turn right at the T-Junction when you get to Swartberg and continue on the R617. You will go past TWO Bushman's Nek Roads - both dirt and both to your left.

- After the 2nd one you will go over a bridge on the Umzimkulu River and turn left onto the tar road that says Drakensberg Gardens Resorts and Ridgedale is 6km down this road on the right.
