Nestled within the rolling hills of the picturesque Balgowan valley, lies a wonderful opportunity to rebel against the monotony of the nine-to-five. Resplendent in tranquillity, a renowned local farm, The Falls, sets the scene for a well-deserved reflection on the simple pleasures of life. Luxury meets country at The Falls Cottages in the beautiful Balgowan Valley. The Falls Cottages are set on a beautiful 22-hectare farm in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, 10 km from Nottingham Road and 800 m from Michaelhouse. We offer two self catering cottages, Serendipity Cottage and the Falls Cottage. Serendipity Cottage has one main ensuite bedroom, with a queen sized bed, a cosy fire place and a bath. Serendipity is also fully self-catering, with a two plate gas HOB, fridge and microwave. Serendipity Cottage is fenced in and is pet friendly. Our second Cottage, The Falls Cottage, is a two bedroom one bathroom self-catering cottage. The main room has a queen bed and the second room two single beds. The Falls Cottage has a cosy lounge with a fire place and a fully equipped self-catering kitchen.

The Midlands stretch to the foothills of the Drakensberg, a 243,000-hectare mountain range ideal for hiking, rock climbing, and abseiling. The uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park, a World Heritage Site, is home to rare plants, diverse wildlife, and ancient San rock paintings. From King Shaka International Airport: 1. Head northeast on Boulevard Rd/King Shaka Dr for 23 m. 2. Slight left onto King Shaka Dr and continue for 850 m. 3. Turn left onto Link Rd and proceed for 120 m. 4. Turn right at Car Rental Returns and drive for 230 m. 5. Use the left 2 lanes to turn left onto Dube Blvd and continue for 2.3 km (Toll road). 6. Use the right 2 lanes to take the ramp onto N2 and continue for 2.4 km (Toll road). 7. Merge onto N2 and drive for 22.0 km (Toll road). 8. Keep right to stay on N2 for 4.6 km. 9. Use the left 2 lanes to take exit 165 to merge onto N3 toward Pietermaritzburg/Johannesburg and continue for 97.4 km (Toll road). 10. Take exit 107 toward Tweedie and continue for 350 m. 11. Turn left onto Main Rd and drive for 1.3 km. 12. Turn right onto R103 and continue for 18.4 km. 13. Just before Michaelhouse School, you will see a sign for 'Mini Me Patisserie and Bistro' and 'Renaissance Antiques and Decor' on the right-hand side. Turn right to The Falls Cottages.
