Named for the indigenous wild shrub which grows wild in this area the Ouhout suite a is a tastefully furnished 5 room apartment offering a spacious bedroom, with choice of kingsize or twin beds, full bathroom with bath and shower, a separate toilet, fully equipped kitchenette and dining area opening onto a glassed in sunroom/verandah, overlooking the garden. Electric blankets and wall heaters throughout, even in the bathroom, ensure that the suite is warm and cosy. The wood-burning stove on the verandah adds that extra touch of warmth in very cold weather. The Wilde-als Suite
Named after the local indigenous Artemisia herb, also called African Wormwood, the Wilde-als Suite
is an west facing tastefully furnished 5 room apartment offering a spacious bedroom, with choice
of kingsize or twin beds, full bathroom with bath and shower, a separate toilet, kitchen/dining area and fully glazed private sunroom/verandah with wood-burning stove. Electric blankets and wall heaters throughout, even in the bathroom, ensure that the suite is warm and cosy. The wood-burning stove on the verandah adds that extra touch of warmth in very cold weather. Framed by grapevines outside the bedroom window, the Wildeals suite has a view over the golf course and village, and is a treat for stargazers, with the crisp night skies of Clarens perfect for planet spotting.
The Bosman Suite
The upstairs/downstairs Bosman suite sleeps 4 or 5 and is ideal for a family, or friends traveling together.
Downstairs, living accommodation comprises a huge open-style lounge with fireplace, dining room and fully fitted kitchen. With all the comforts of home and more besides, you can cook, wine and dine in style or alternatively explore Clarens’s restaurant and night life, just 5 minutes away. Upstairs are two double bedrooms, each with their own full bathroom en-suite. Both bedrooms offer the choice of a kingsize bed or two twins. Thoughtfully furnished with electric blankets, wall heating panels, top quality linen and fluffy white towels, the Bosman suite caters for every need and some besides. Upstairs, a fifth bed can be made-up on the landing – which offers an unparalleled outlook over the lawns, dams, trees and gossiping guinea fowl. Downstairs, the living area opens onto Oom Schalk se Stoep, ideal for al fresco dining or a glass of wine at sunset.
The Bosman Suite (as in Herman Charles Bosman and his legendary Marico tales), is also home to an extensive collection of illustrations from The Illustrated Bosman, the work of artist, author and guesthouse co-owner, Peter Badcock-Walters. More work from this collection can be viewed in the dining room.
The Shepherds Loft
The Shepherd’s Loft is a very private apartment quite separate from The Clarens Country House. Ideal for a romantic weekend.
Up the stairs, alongside the weeping willows, this stylish country loft offers an open-plan lounge, en suite bedroom, kitchen and dining area in shades of exquisite colour. Picture windows command views over a tree-circled Coot dam busy with ducks and herons, and owls guard the night. Lofts don’t come more romantic than this, so lose yourself for a weekend or weeks at a time and enjoy the beautiful view of Mount Horeb as you relax in your own private little balcony or hibernate away the winter in the Loft’s comfortable lounge. Features and Amenities
On arrival, guests will find, their tea box stocked with a range of teas and coffee, fresh milk in the fridge, a jar biscuits to snack on, as well as a decanter of sherry, to help you get used to the altitude.
The kitchen areas are well equipped with a wide range of cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery, making it easy to prepare meals. Heating wall panels (even in the bathrooms) and electric blankets ensure that the bedrooms are warm and cosy, and the wood-burning stoves add that extra touch of warmth in even the coldest weather.
Enjoy home-cooked breakfast in our high roofed dining hall with iron candelabra and art from the Illustrated Bosman, or choose to have your breakfast served in your suite, on your own private dining table at any time up till 10am. If you`re pressed for time we are also happy to pack you a healthy take-away padkos for the road.
All our bathrooms have super fluffy white bath sheets and towels. Top of the range bath and shower gel, soap, shampoo, bubble bath, body lotion and facial wipes are all provided for your pleasure.
Each suite has DSTV (full Multichoice bouquet) and for those guests who like to keep contact with the outside world – we have Free WiFi.
