Nestled in the quiet town of Roadside in the Eastern Free State, Thanda Tau is approximately 2 hours from central Johannesburg and approximately 5 hours drive from Durban along the N3 highway.
With luxury chalets overlooking a mountain view with colourful, well- maintained gardens and majestic African wildlife homed just outside your backdoor! Our chalets are suitable for the single guest, couples, as well as being able to cater to families in our adjoining chalets/ family units.
Overnight guests will have access to our beautiful gardens meaning they have the advantage of viewing a small number of our animals. As well as this, guests have full access to the main Thanda Tau building, a tourism & lifestyle centre complete with the following offerings: The Lion’s Share Restaurant, Den Curio Shop, Chop Shop Deli, Upper Crust Bakery, Cafe Tau & Pizzeria, Wine Boutique, Art Gallery, De Jager Brouwerij Micro-Brewery and guided safari tours.
Opposite to the main building is the Sasol N3 East Service Station with the first EV charger installation in the Free State, a Spur Steak Ranch and an OK Express convenience store.

We recommend that you pack closed-toe sturdy shoes for safaris as well as sun cream for the harsh Free State sun and a warm jacket for the evenings.

Full deposit will be forfeit for cancellations between 15 December- 15 January.
From 21- 28 days forfeit 25% of total deposit.
From 14- 21 days forfeit 50% of total deposit
Less than 14 days forfeit 100% of total deposit.
No shows will be charged the full accommodation rate.
Children under 6 years stay for free.
Children 6- 12 years pay half the adult rate.
We provide a single mattress upon request for babies.
