The region is defined by its semi-arid desert climate, characterised by hot summers and some of the coldest winters in South Africa, with frequent snowfalls and temperatures regularly dropping below freezing. Its economy is primarily driven by extensive sheep farming, which thrives across the vast, scrub-filled plains. Geologically and ecologically significant, the area is a primary habitat for the critically endangered Riverine Rabbit and serves as a world-class destination for stargazing due to its extreme lack of light pollution and high-altitude clarity. The Karoo also offers 7000 plant species and many bird species as well.

From Beaufort-Wes Town, (no need for high rise vehicle.) Exit Beaufort-Wes and Follow the N1 towards Cape Town.
Drive about 13.4 km on the N1 outside Beaufort-Wes towards Cape Town and turn right onto the gravel road towards Fraserburg.
Continue for 10 km and keep right at the fork in the road. You will drive pass game fences as we are close to the Karoo National Park. -see it as a free game drive.
After you kept right at the fork, Drive for 60 km,through the farm boundary with the name 'Tamboershoek' and turn left at the sign that says Leeu-Gamka at the T-junction...you getting closer.
Continue for 2.4 km untill you reach Tamboershoek road sign on your right with Aloes planted beneath it.
Turn right ,over the cattle bridge, downwards,over few speed to the homestead.
