Shoulder Mountain is secluded, peaceful and quiet. Offering amazing bird watching (170 species recorded to date) here in the malaria free Waterberg. there are three (3) newly renovated stone & thatch cottages each with own private braai-boma. A products shop is open most days of the week showcasing natural hand-made health & wellness products. From luxurious massage cream for high end spas to RAW-Milk farm soaps. Beard Oils, Comfrey & Calendula Balms & Salves. Kombucha & Kefir starter kits. Crushed & Pure Olive Oil milled on-site is available in and out of season while supplies last.
We also host secluded campsites for those wanting a place in the bush to bring their camping gear. An upper Valley View, and a lower Dam View. More to come.
Shoulder Mountain is a 145 ha bush veld farm that lies in the malaria free Waterberg Mountains (In the Waterberg Biosphere and UNESCO site).
Farm to Table Dining: If you are visiting and want breakfast or dinner, we need at least one week advance notice. The updated weekly menu will be sent in advance.
Accommodation at Shoulder Mountain:
There are three newly renovated stone and thatch cottages each with its own fully equipped kitchen. The rooms are cozy and cool, warm in winter.
There are complementary tea and coffee trays in each room. New luxury linens for a comfortable rest! Each room has an en-suite bathroom (shower only).
The Reedbuck Family cottage consist of 2 bedrooms, one room with queen-sized bed and en-suite bathroom (shower) and the second room has two 3/4 beds, two total en-suite bathrooms (shower only, no tub). There is a fully equipped `outside` kitchen & a braai/boma.
Klipspringer cottage consists of a King size bed with en-suite (shower). The outside kitchen is fully equipped and each cottage has a private braai-boma.
Bushbuck cottage consists of a Queen size bed with en-suite (shower). The outside kitchen is fully equipped and each cottage has a private braai-boma.
The communal pool area has a braai area and groups can be accommodated here upon special request. We offer mountain biking and walking trails, outstanding bird watching and amazing tree spotting.
The surrounding area is rich in history. “The Waterberg Meander route starts here, at the most common entrance to the Waterberg plateau - the Sandrivierspoort, one of only five natural gateways into the hinterland.
Stretching to the west is the iconic view of the “Seven Sisters” one of the most photographed and painted images in the Waterberg. In reality there are many more sisters - buttresses of the Waterberg massif rising from the flat basin outside the southern escarpment. Here the journey of exploration begins.
