The ethos of Sederkloof Lodge is the tranquil enjoyment that the spectacular Baviaanskloof, World Heritage Site, in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, offers.

The venue consists of six luxury stone-and-glass hideaways in the mountains, with communal lounge and dining areas, pool and bar facilities.

Each chalet is carefully situated at the edge of a gorge in such a way as to provide complete privacy to its guests, as well as affording a view of the gorge and mountain unimpaired by other human artifacts.

The Lodge is situated a short walk from the luxurious mountain chalets, spectacularly located on the edge of another gorge with glorious views of the Baviaanskloof mountains.

Sederkloof Lodge was temporarily closed down in 2020 because of the Covid 19 pandemic.  We have now opened the lodge again on the following new business model:

  • Self Catering
  • Rental of the whole facility which includes six mountain chalets (4 double and 2 twin sleeping 12 persons max), as well as the communal lodge building with dining, lounge area, kitchen and storage areas, pool deck and braai lapa.
  • Most guided and unguided hikes (all at own risk) on our five Sederkloof Biodiversity Hiking Trails.
  • Directions will be provided for unguided visits to places of interest nearby, and in the World Heritage Site.

Within the Lodge is a comfortable sitting area for guests who wish to socialise.

Outside is a large deck, partly under cover and partly open, with loungers on which to tan and a crystal clear swimming pool for that refreshing plunge.

It is a privilege to share this piece of paradise with you. We hope your visit leaves you and your loved ones relaxed and ready to take on the world with some very special memories made.

Your comfort is our concern. Should you require anything, please do not hesitate to ask any of the Sederkloof Lodge staff, who will immediately attend to your request. We value your patronage, and receive you with a warm and professional service.

The lodge is accessible to high clearance 4x4 vehicles and high clearance bakkies. We provide 4x4 transport to our guests who do not have their own 4x4 vehicles, as an additional service.

Attractions:

The day excursions into the Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area will take you past high mountain passes, deep river valleys and abundant wildlife. This a nature lovers dream. A picnic at Geelhoutbos with its large Yellowwood and wild fig trees is part of the trip - for a minimum 3 night stay. During our scenic and game drives on Sederkloof, on our way to the Valley of the Cedar trees we take you into the game camp. This protected piece of natural beauty offers the chance to see kudu, oryx (gemsbok), grysbok or even some of the many shy nocturnal species like porcupine, bush pig or even a glimpse of a leopard. In the evenings after dinner you can marvel at the starry splendour and explore the nature of our galaxy. Sit back and enjoy an unequivocal view of the Milky Way above and learn about some of the more detailed wonders of the Southern night sky.
