Riverbend Camp and Luxury Glamping offers a peaceful retreat along the Vaal River and is located in Christiana in the North West. Here, guests can unwind and entire the beauty of the Vaal River.
The tents and caravan campsites that accommodate up to 6 guests each and have spacious areas for guests’ tents or caravans. There’s ample parking and a private electricity, water point and braai with grid. The private ablution is fitted with a shower and toilet.
There’s also a kitchen sink, and each campsite overlooks the Vaal River.
Our Family Tent is also wheelchair frinedly. There are 2 glamping tents that offer comfort and style, which contain a queen-size bed. The tent features an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, toilet, and washbasin. The glamping tent has a private kitchen area equipped with a 2-plate stove with a mini convection oven, tea- and coffee-making facilities, fridge and a kitchen sink.
Guests have the option to book one of the canvas dome tents that are fully equipped with bedding at an additional cost, or they can bring their own tent.
Guests can fish on the riverbanks, enjoy watersports or simply enjoy the tranquillity of the natural surroundings with beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

Set on the banks of the Vaal River, 70 km downstream from the Bloemhof Dam, the town of Christiana brings smiles to the faces of visiting Danes, for whom Christiana is a semi-utopian community declared a ‘free state’ in 1971 in Denmark. Christiana, named after the only daughter of President Pretorius (son of the more famous Voortrekker, Andries Pretorius), lies dead centre of three provinces: the Free State, Northern Cape and North West. Kimberley is 120 km south. As such, it serves as an automatic stopover town; a town through which to pass and perhaps stay awhile. Visit the Christiana Diggers Museum to find out all about the history of the town’s diamond past.

- If cancelling 7 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the booking total.
- If cancelling 14 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the deposit.
- If cancelling 30 days before arrival, forfeit 50% of the deposit.
* We reserve the right to not refund card fees (transaction costs) in the case of cancellations or other situations where funds need to be reversed back to a credit card.
* Reservations/Deposits not paid within 24 hours will automatically be cancelled.
* We reserve the right not to refund bank costs upon cancellation for credit card bookings, as the bank does not credit the initial deduction costs.
* Please note that a medical certificate does not qualify for a last-minute cancellation refund. If we can fill your booking with another guest, we’ll gladly issue a refund; however, if no replacement is found, the payment will be forfeited.
Camp Rules:
* No smoking inside the tents/units.
* No loud music (respect your neighbour).
* No noise or music after 22h00.
* Keep the premises clean.
* No dumping of trash, including cigarette butts.
* Please make use of the built ablution available on site.
* No cleaning of fish in the sink.
* No disposing of fishing equipment in the river or on the grass (especially
hooks, line and string).
* Do not leave boats unattended.
* Launching of boats at the owners’ own risk.
* Entering the property is at your own risk.
* Owners will not be held responsible for loss or theft.
* Pet owners will be held responsible for any damage caused by their pets.
* VERY important. Please do not operate any gas, butane, or charcoal stoves or appliances within your tent. This equipment uses up all the oxygen and releases poisonous gases that can lead to your death or that of a family member. These are only to be used in a well-ventilated area.
* We kindly advise using solar lights or battery-operated camp lights within your sleep tent, as this is the safer option to gas lights, which emit poisonous gases and can lead to your death.
* Fires will only be allowed at designated areas. This is a huge risk and safety hazard. This request is for your own safety and your neighbours. Thus, please consider your fellow guests.
Not everyone is a “happy” camper. Should there be any requirements, or if you need assistance or if you are unhappy about anything, please approach us in a civilised manner, and we will gladly assist in making your stay as comfortable as possible. If you have bought new equipment and are not familiar with its operation, please ask for our assistance. We will gladly help. Only small pets allowed. Kindly advise Riverbend Camp upon making the reservation if you will be bringing a small pet along. A fee will be applicable per pet per night. Pets are to be kept on a leash or in a cage. Pets are NOT allowed to sleep on or in any of the furniture in the pre-pitched tents. Please bring their own beds with them. Please keep your fellow campers in mind and make sure your pets do not cause a disturbance in the camping area. Owners are responsible for cleaning up behind their pets. Pet Owners are responsible for any damage caused by their pets. That includes urine on carpets in the glamping tents, as well as any other damage incurred by your pets. Send us a picture of your pet, should you be unsure.
