River Lodge Vredendal is not your average semi self catering bed and breakfast. It is an accommodation establishment with a secret weapon our garden.
Once you have driven through the gates, you will find yourself in a little paradise, complete with thatch-roofed chalets under huge trees and birds nests hanging from tree branches over the big cement dam. Winding pathways between the buildings are lined with an exciting variety of flora. Around every bend is a flowerbed with a different array of plants. The severe drought of the past year has left its mark on the once exceptionally beautiful, flourishing garden, but determination and tons of TLC administered to it since has paid off and already around every bend a pleasant surprise awaits our guests.
Our aim and mission is to provide an oasis where the tired businessperson can relax and be rejuvenated before continuing on the next leg of the journey. Every chalet has a private entrance and a quaint little stoep, where you can relax with a glass of our regions award winning wines. And in the morning you can have your early coffee there, watching the birds that woke you with their song.

We are proud of our rustic-yet-sophisticated style. Our aim is to create a home-away-from-home ambience which will leave you feeling loved and cared for.

River Lodge Vredendal has an air-conditioned conference room and can comfortably accommodate 15 delegates whether it is U-shape, school room style or whatever you choose. The effects of the quiet surroundings and fresh air will have a positive impact on everyone, leaving them relaxed and motivated. All the necessary equipment required can be provided if need be.

With the Maskam mountain range on the one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other side, River Lodge Vredendal is situated perfectly as the base camp, from where you can explore this amazing region.
Not enough people are aware of the award-winning wines cultivated here. Take the Namaqua West coast Wine Route swirl, smell, sip and swallow moderately! some of the best wines South Africa can offer. Enjoy the culinary feasts on the way and test your taste buds to the extreme.
Whether you are a 4x4 fundi or just a normal office worker, our district has something to offer for everyone off the beaten track. Go wild in The Dunes, crawl at Bergkraal or do a daytrip to Skilad for the flower explosion during august and September.
Is hiking more your style? Then come and test our mini Caminos. Hike through the Maskam mountains, the West coast from Lamberts bay to Papendorp, explore the Knersvlakte searching for that minute succulents or walk the Saturday morning Parkrun. Catch the moments forever with your happy snappy.
Our region is a place for adventure. Matzikama offers a variety of cycling routes - a circle route across Gifberg, down to the coast or a trip into the Knersvlakte. Some of the routes are child friendly.

Our thatch-roofed chalets are air-conditioned against our notoriously hot summers and with heaters for our crisp West Coast winters. There are 6 chalets with double beds and 4 with twin beds, all with 2 sleeper couches each, which converts into beds for young children sharing with their parents
The en-suite bathrooms have showers only. The chalets are semi self catering, allowing the guest to heat up or throw together a quick meal. The kitchenette contains all the basic equipment and utensils including a microwave oven, kettle, toaster, crockery and cutlery for your convenience. Other appliances are available on request.The chalets are non-smoking and serviced daily, for your convenience. We also offer a laundry service.

Sunset is the perfect time to relax on the chalets little stoepie, under the trees, with a glass of our Wine Routes award winning produce.
