Join us at Penwarn Farm Lodge, located in the foothills of the Southern Drakensberg, for a stunning farm lodge escape.  Rustic yet modern, Penwarn Farm Lodge can be found just 25 km from the quaint, little town of Underberg in South Africa.  As you drive down the Khyber Pass, youll be greeted with the all the beauty that Penwarn has to offer.

The farm lodge lies in an exquisite valley surrounded by lakes, and borders Highlands Farm which was established in 1886.  Over 3400 hectares of land is farmed by the fifth generation of Nicholsons, raising cattle and sheep and planting maize and potatoes for the market. Sharing the grasslands are zebra, hartebeest and blesbok.  Birdlife is of abundance and the cranes and wild geese can be spotted from the comfort of your room.  Penwarn truly is an animal enthusiasts paradise!

The ambience of the farm is relaxed, rustic, and modern, and is perfect for a variety of occasions including weddings, conferences, family adventures and romantic getaways.

Penwarn Farm Lodge has its own chapel, which is situated near the beautiful lake overlooking the Drakensberg.  Within the venue, we also have the famous Penwarn Bar which offers guest a thirst-quenching drink and a place for a bit of banter.

Accommodation at Penwarn Farm Lodge:
Penwarn offers rustic yet modern rooms that are comfortable and functional. Everything you need for your self catering holiday has been provided for. All rooms have comfortable beds, fresh linen and electric blankets. A cozy throw can be found at the end of your bed for the chilly nights we have in the Berg or for an afternoon nap.

Mthini Lodge
Our Mthini Lodge sleeps 8 people, divided into three King Bedrooms and one suite with two 3/4 beds. All rooms have luxury en suite bathrooms. There is also a full kitchen and a large open-plan living and dining area, with a fireplace, which opens to a private patio, with braai and fire pit facilities. Mthini is the shining star of Penwarn Farm Lodge, and is perched on a hill overlooking a magnificent lake and Southern Peaks of the Drakensberg.

Mziki
Mziki sleeps 7 people in two Queen Bedrooms and a large loft with two 3/4 beds and one single bed (extra beds can be added). The cottage has two shared bathrooms. One bathroom has a shower and the other has a jet bath overlooking the lake. Mziki has a large open-plan kitchen, which looks onto the dinning and living area. The front doors open onto a small patio with a large garden and braai area.

Kingfisher
Kingfisher is a thatch cottage that sleeps 4 people in one Queen Bedroom and a loft with two 3/4 beds. There is a comfortable shared bathroom in the cottage, which has a shower and the usual amenities. This cottage has an open-plan kitchen and living area, with a three-seater couch to lie on and catch up on some reading or enjoy a nap in the afternoon. This is the perfect couple and small family accommodation.

Nguni
Our Nguni cottage sleeps up to 5 people in one Queen Bedroom and a loft with two 3/4 beds and a single bed. The lovely, shared bathroom is equipped with a shower. This cottage has an open-plan kitchen and living area, and is a perfect for a family of 5.

Oribi
Oribi thatch cottage is identical to Nguni and sleeps 4 people in one Queen Bedroom and a loft with two 3/4 beds. An additional single bed can be added if necessary. The communal bathroom is equipped with a shower. Oribi has an open-plan kitchen and living area, with a comfy slouch couch to lie on and catch up on some reading or enjoy a nap in the afternoon. Watch the kids play on the nearby jungle gym from the comfort of your patio.
