* Statue of Gandhi: The legendary Mahatma Gandhi, among many other things, served with General Buller’s relief forces after the Siege of Ladysmith. He also trained 1100 Indians who participated in the battle. In 1993 the Hindu community paid tribute to the work of Gandhi by building a statue of him at the Lord Vishnu Temple.
* Spion Kop Battlefield: As you travel on the N3 linking Durban and Johannesburg, only 8 km off the motorway near Ladysmith, you’ll arrives at the famous Battlefield of Spion Kop. Over a century ago on the 24th January 1900, Spion Kop was the scene of a bloody and futile battle fought between South Africans and British forces during the South African War.

From Newcastle: Travelling from Newcastle on the N11, pass the Oval Centre on your right. You will then come to a set of traffic lights, drive straight ahead, the street you are driving on is called Murchison Street. At the next set of traffic lights turn right into Poort Road. Then the road will bend to the right and you will approach another set of traffic lights. Drive straight through and keep following the road, as it curves in different directions. The next street on your right is Berea Street and we are No. 4. From Johannesburg: Travelling from Johannesburg on the R103 / N3 driving into the town you will approach a set of traffic lights. Drive straight ahead, then you will be crossing over Francis Road and you will see Caltex on you left hand side. Take the next street to your left which is Berea Street and we are No. 4.
