From exploring the local history museum to getting out your clubs for a round at one of the many golf clubs in the area, Himeville and nearby Underberg offer excitement for everyone. Rich in bird life, the area offers guided bird-watching excursions, and those who enjoy experiencing nature atop a beautiful horse won't be disappointed, with several tours available.

Steeped in history, the Reichenau Mission was founded in 1886 at the invitation of the Zulu Chief Sakayedwa, who wanted schools within his community. The day school with 200 children still operates and the beautiful church and the water mill are a noteworthy excursion.

There are guided and non-guided hikes from a few hours up to five days along the Giants Cup Trail in the uKhahlamba Nature Reserve, which is a UNESCO world heritage site. The trail runs from the Sani Pass to Bushman's Nek. Visit caves and view rock paintings by the original, now extinct Khoisan-speaking inhabitants of the area. Himeville is the border to the Kingdom of Lesotho. Bring your passport and enjoy a rugged 4x4 trip up Sani Pass and into Lesotho, enjoying a refreshing beverage (or something warm and toasty during winter) in Africa's highest pub at the top of the pass (2863m).
