Situated at the very heart of the small town of Prince Albert, its the perfect place from which to enjoy the vast open expanses of the Karoo, breathtaking natural beauty, and a night sky filled with stars so bright you’ll have to see them for yourself to believe us.

The Victoria Dining Room:
Its the perfect way to enjoy the culture and character of Prince Albert, good food, and especially a candlelit dinner reminiscent of days gone by. And while you watch the candlelight flicker, you might want to pay attention to our late 19th-century landscape paintings on the wall and listen to a ghostly tale about their history.

The Hotel Ladies Bar:
If you would like to relax after a long day, join us for a drink at our Ladies Bar. However, be warned, when there’s a rugby game on, you’ll find it filled with plenty of local men.

Coffee Shop:
Our coffee shop serves both residents and our guest’s breakfast (included in your stay) and lunch. Served from 7 am, we love nothing more than to watch the Karoo sunrise over the sleepy town of Prince Albert from the hotel porch with a cup of coffee and a plate of bacon and eggs, or one of our great vegetarian options.

Accommodation at Swartberg Hotel:
There’s something special about staying in a beautiful old building, and our rooms are filled with old-world charm and comfort. Today they’re fully refurbished with modern amenities and facilities, but in their ambience, you can still feel their 150-year history.

Standard Rooms
Our standard rooms include either three-quarter or double beds, and each has its own en-suite bathroom. As we’ve collected a range of furniture over the course of our history, each room is unique in its furnishings, from tables and dressing tables to headboards and chairs.

Luxury Rooms
We have 3 luxury suites, each of which is significantly larger than our standard rooms, to accommodate a larger seating area and a king-size bed. Two of our luxury suites have their own balcony, and we can easily say that there’s nothing better than standing on the balcony in the morning and breathing in the pristine Karoo air. The third luxury suite trades the balcony for a larger bathroom with both bathtub and shower.

Rondavel Chalets
Walk around the side of the hotel, past the pool, and you’ll find our chalets. Built-in the traditional rural rondavel or round dwelling style, each chalet contains two rooms separated by a bathroom and is ideal for families or larger parties of guests.

Self Catering Chalets
If you would like to supplement the delicious local food offered at our restaurant and coffee shop, or if you’re staying a while, we also offer one self-catering chalet that includes two bedrooms, a bathroom and a small kitchen. It makes a great base for travellers who want to explore everything the Karoo has to offer.
