However, navigating this area can be somewhat confusing, as New or Nieuw Muckleneuk lies further east and is often mistaken for Muckleneuk itself, while the small hill known as Muckleneuk Ridge adds further ambiguity regarding its boundaries. Characterized by sturdy blocks of flats and spacious homes, the suburb sits just beneath UNISA, the University of South Africa, and has recently experienced construction noise due to upgrades on the railway tracks as part of the Gautrain initiative. Close to the University of Pretoria, Muckleneuk is also near several heritage-rich sites, including the Union Buildings, Freedom Park, Church Square, and the Voortrekker Monument, each offering visitors a glimpse into South Africa’s history.
