*Hluhluwe River Lodge is a great location if you want to explore. The Memorial gate is a 30-minute drive from the lodge and the coastal and marine reserves of Sodwana Bay, Cape Vidal and St Lucia are just an hour’s drive from the lodge
*Game drives: Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park is 97 000 hectares in extent and consists of two distinct areas namely the northern Hluhluwe section and the southern iMfolozi section. To fully appreciate the whole area one would need a full day to explore the Park. This can either be done as a self-drive ( in your own vehicle without a guide ) or with a professional Safari operator in an open-game viewing vehicle who will meet you at the gate to Hluhluwe iMfolozi Game reserve. (Subject to availability) Boat Cruises on Lake St Lucia can be booked from the lodge, these are run from St Lucia which is an hours drive from Hluhluwe. Hippo and croc sightings are possible. *Mountain biking: We recommend a ride to False Bay Park which is a 2300-hectare reserve hugging the western shoreline of Lake St Lucia, and forms part of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. This is a 20-kilometre ride which is flat and easy to ride for novice riders. This wonderfully scenic ride passes through beautiful coastal forests on smooth tar and gravel roads and there are a number of lookout points for picnic stops. Bring your own bikes and helmets. tubeless tyres are recommended. Walking: Upon request, we offer guided walks into False Bay Park which includes forest and lakeshore experiences where the focus is on the little details and magic of our greatest asset, the Sand Forest Other adventure activities: mountain bike trails, guided or self-guided walks, Pineapple tours, locally brewed gin tasting, animal interaction etc
