Built in the 1830s, this original fortified homestead was once a wagon stopover. The 1 metre thick walls and high ceilings allow the manor house to remain steeped in history while remaining fresh to the modern traveller. The boutique hotel has an exceptional view of the Karkloof Valley. The hotel offers lovely rooms and suites that can comfortably accommodate 2 to 4 people. The units are furnished with king-size beds or a combination of king-size or double beds with single beds. Each of the units has an en-suite bathroom with heated towel rails. The units have Satellite TVs, some with cosy fireplaces, and tea and coffee facilities, opening onto patios with lovely views. The on-site restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and conference facilities are available for up to 40 people. The Halliwell Country Inn has a premier wedding venue that caters for up to 250 guests and an on-site chapel seats 110. The hotel is surrounded by 250 acres of big trees and beautiful gardens, expanse of lawns, forest, and abundant bird life. From King Shaka International Airport: 1. Head south on Dube Blvd for 73 meters. 2. Use any lane to turn slightly left onto Dube Blvd (Toll road) for 2.6 kilometers. 3. Keep right at the fork and merge onto N2 (Toll road) for 2.4 kilometers. 4. Merge onto N2 (Toll road) and continue for 22.0 kilometers. 5. Keep right to stay on N2 for 4.5 kilometers. 6. Use the left 2 lanes to take exit 165 to merge onto N3 toward Pietermaritzburg/Johannesburg (Toll road) for 105 kilometers. 7. Take exit 114 toward Currys Post/Lions River for 400 meters. 8. Turn right onto D369 and drive for 3.8 kilometers. 9. Turn left onto Currys Post Rd and continue for 1.5 kilometers. 10. Turn right and continue for 78 meters to reach Halliwell Country Inn.
