District Six Guesthouse is proud to have obtained the prestigious "Most Innovative Product Award" for our stall exhibit at the 2003 `Cape Tourism Showcase` which was held at the Cape Town International Conference Centre from 15 - 17 August.

With District Six on it`s doorstep, the District Six Guesthouse provides a portal from where, within walking distance, visitors are able to explore the historic locale and the City center. Cape Malay hospitality, renowned for its warmth and endearment, as well as the provision of old Cape Malay traditional cuisine with its unique flavor and condiment, makes for a stay of memorable experience. All foods are strictly Halaal and the consumption of alcohol is not allowed on the premises.

The significance of our guesthouse-site having been declared a National Heritage Site. In effect, our accommodation, consisting of three cottages, is an adaption, during Victorian times, of farm cottages that were attached to the Zonnebloem farmhouse. District Six Guesthouse is within walking distance to: Mosques, Churches, Cape Town Technikon and the Convention Center.

Meetings and Conferences at District Six Guesthouse
The Conference Room can seat 35 persons in a U-format & 60 persons in a theatre format. The room leads to an outside courtyard which is ideal as a `break away` room & also where tea is served. Overhead projection, slide projection, wall charts, blackboard & other necessary facilities are catered for & available.

The provision of a Full Conference comprises of a welcome Tea/Coffee, a Mid-morning tea, Lunch & an Afternoon Tea. Dinner can be provided upon request.

The establishment of the Conference Facility has proven to be a great success & the venue has been well used by various NGO`s, Organisations & Sports Clubs. Included are NEHAWU, Cape Town Routes Unlimited, a Church Group from the USA, COSATU, SCORE, etc. Sports groups can also use facility for their meetings.

Accommodation at District Six Guesthouse consists of three cottages that were adapted in Victorian times from cottages which were attached to the Zonnebloem Farm House. Being of such historical significance, it was given the status of a National Heritage Site. Its location in District Six, accompanied by the domestic informality and timeless tranquility of the historic cottages within the surrounding grounds, were the determinants for converting the cottages into a Guest House for visitors to enjoy. District Six Guest House is an experience of Cape Malay hospitality that is renowned for its warmth and endearment, reminding one of the cultural diversity of the people that once lived here.
