Dirkie Uys Backpackers is an intimate backpackers situated in the heart of the Bluff in Durban, a short 5 minute walk to local malls, pubs and restaurants with the local beach just 3.6km?s away. We can accommodate just over 200 guests in our spacious dorm rooms. We are situated inside a Dirkie Uys School. Our rooms are old classrooms converted into sleeping courters. Guest have full access to a wide option of shower and toilet facilities, our large swimming pool, the well fitted BBQ/braai area, free parking including a fully equipped communal kitchen.

The Bluff is a popular holiday destination, with extensive accommodation and plentiful seaside recreation. The area is known for its abundant sea life, including dolphins, and in the winter months, whales. There are two main beaches: Brighton Beach and Anstey’s, while a smaller, lesser-known beach to the north is Garvie’s. There is golf course and a wetland area with a large population of various bird species. The area enjoys a sub-tropical climate so expect mostly warm, humid weather even amid sudden downpours, although flooding and unexpected cold weather is not unusual. Always check with your Travel Agent. The warm Indian Ocean makes swimming possible all year round.
If cancelling 7 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the booking total.
If cancelling 14 days before arrival, forfeit 75% of the deposit.
If cancelling 21 days before arrival, forfeit 50% of the deposit.
If cancelling 30 days before arrival, forfeit 25% of the deposit.
