Cycasia Lodge is a large, double-storey house in Umzumbe that offers self-catering accommodation. The property is set on 7 acres of tropical gardens and bush, and is 1 km from Umzumbe’s Blue Flag beach. It is approximately 7 km from Hibberdene and 17 km from Port Shepstone, providing guests with easy access to nearby attractions and coastal activities.
The house can be split into three self-contained units: a 2- to 3-sleeper honeymoon suite, a 6-sleeper main house, and a 4- to 6-sleeper flatlet on the upper level. Each unit has its own kitchen facilities. When combined, the units can accommodate up to 12 guests, including 10 adults and 2 to 4 children, sharing some of the six bedrooms. In addition, four adjacent garden units are available with a shared verandah. Each garden unit has a kitchenette, and Units 1 and 4 can accommodate an additional single bed for one child or adult. Units 2 and 3 contain a double bed, while Units 1 and 4 have their own verandah and can accommodate extra single or bunk beds. A wooden glamping hut is also available, sleeping one guest in a single bed, with a separate shower and toilet outside the unit.
The top flat above the house offers distant sea views over the treetops. The house, flat, and honeymoon suite share a large entertainment area and swimming pool, as well as a sunken garden suitable for functions or weddings.
Free Wi-Fi is provided, and Smart TVs are available in the larger units, making the property ideal for large family groups who wish to have their own space while staying together.

We have 2 surfing companies that offer Surfing lessons, and there are options for riding horses on the beach as well. Umzumbe has a blue flag status and is a well known Surfing destination. We have 4 golf courses within a 30 km radius and many coastal attractions within a 30-minute drive. From Margate Airport: 1. Start by heading towards Tedder Ave. Follow it for about 2 km before continuing onto Jellicoe Road. 2. Turn left onto Alexander Ave, then right into Wingate Ave. From there, take a left to merge onto the R61 heading towards Port Shepstone. 3. Stay on the R61 (keep in mind this is a toll road) for just under 12 km before it flows into the N2. You’ll want to take Exit 51 marked for Port Shepstone/St Faiths. 4. Turn right onto Rethman Drive and follow it for about 4 km. When you reach the end, use the two left lanes to turn onto the R102. 5. Follow the R102 for about 11.5 km. You’ll then take a left, a quick right after 80 m, and one last left turn to arrive at Cycasia Lodge in Umzumbe. From Hibberdene: 1. On the R102, it is exactly 7km from the Traffic lights. At Cross Road, Umzumbe left and Right to P71 to Folly Fields and St Elmos. 2. Turn right and immediately right again onto Sand Rd. 3. Follow signs to Cycasia lodge. 4. Travel approx 600m and turn left into the driveway, continue up to the main gate approx 100m. From Port Shepstone: 1. If coming from Port Shepstone, we are 17km, and the same cross road is 1 km after Pumula - 1. You will turn Left to St Elmos and right onto the sand road. Contact Gill to confirm arrival time, as we do not live on the property. The office is in the workshop on the right of the driveway, where you will collect keys at the time pre-arranged.
