Activities:

There is so much to do in this area no matter what adventure you seek. The most popular activity is hiking of which we are close to many popular trails. Located nearby you will find Tree Top Canopy Tours, horse riding, helicopter flips and hot air ballooning.

We are within walking distance to health spa that offers individual or couple spa treatments.  We are also located across from the Drakensberg Sun Resort which offers, canoeing, putt putt, tennis and squash.

There are many culinary delights in the area including the Drakensberg Chocolate Bar, Berg Rostery, Drakensberg Craft Brewery and the Champagne Bistro. You also cannot miss the opportunity to enjoy a slice of homemade Honey Cheesecake at Scrumpy Jacks.

Clothing and Accessories:

In winter you may want to bring warm clothing for the evenings and early mornings - generally the days warm up quite nicely. Evening temperatures are generally around 3 degrees centigrade. In summer you will need cool clothing for the very hot days, your costume is a must. We often have afternoon thundershowers, and when it is misty you may require a light jersey or pullover. Sunhat, sun cream, a hiking stick and hiking boots are a must for this area. A small daypack will help you carry your water and snacks whilst hiking. A raincoat and umbrella will ensure that you can still continue with your activities outdoors even if it rains! Europeans are good at that, South Africans still need to learn not to be demotivated by poor weather.
Most establishments are fairly casual, although the hotels prefer smart casual for evening dress (no jeans) for dinner.

Health and Climate:

The weather is good in this region. Typical Summer rain fall with hot days, whilst winter is generally mild to warm and if a cold front comes through we experience snowfall and cold. One needs to always bring a thin pullover as well as sun hat and such, since often times the weather can change dramatically due to the mountainous region. Winter is generally warmer here than it is in the Highveld (e.g. Johannesburg).
