Not only does Port Elizabeth boast with two Blue Flag beaches, but it also offers a wide selection of activities both in and around the city.
Several private game reserves are within a two hour radius from the city. Shamwari, Scotia, Amakhala and Lalibela are but a few of many luxury game parks which offer daily safaris with true safari cuisine. The popular Addo Elephant National Park, home to 450 elephants and home to the big five, is situated a mere 40 kilometers north of the city. Enjoy a day’s unforgettable game viewing from your own vehicle or join the friendly rangers in their open safari vehicles. Whale watching, cruising with dolphins or a sunset cruise with the famous oceanographer, Lloyd Edwards, is a must when visiting PE. Lloyd boasts “best Humpback viewing in South Africa’. Port Elizabeth itself is home to the famous Sea View Lion farm which is famous for their white lion, Kragga Kamma game reserve which boasts the big 4 and of course the bird watching is wonderful.

Directions from Port Elizabeth Airport
On leaving the airport, turn right at the roundabout. Proceed on Alistair Miller until you reach a traffic light.
Turn right into La Roche Drive and proceed along this road, passing through 2 traffic lights until the road intersects with Beach Road on the ocean front.
Turn right into Beach Road and proceed for 2km, keeping the ocean and beachfront on your left and passing the Oceanarium, Boardwalk Entertainment Complex and Protea Marine Hotel on your right.
Turn right into 7th Avenue and continue for 150m.
Carslogie House is well sign-posted and is situated on your right.

Directions from N2 (Cape Town and Grahamstown)
When approaching Port Elizabeth on the N2, take the M4 off-ramp.
The sign reads "M4, Settlers Way/Setlaarsweg,
Continue along the M4, keeping the ocean on your left.
Follow the Summerstrand signs.
The freeway ends at a traffic light.
The harbour is on your left.
Proceed along the road and continue straight when passing underneath a railway bridge.
The road sign indicates Summerstrand veering right - Disregard this and continue straight.
Proceed for another 4km, keeping the ocean and beachfront on your left and passing the Oceanarium, Boardwalk Entertainment Complex and Protea Marine Hotel on your right.
Turn right into 7th Avenue and continue for 150m.
