CAMP BETHEL is a Tented Bush Camp under the Place of Rock banner offering accommodation in 6x en–suite Tents. Keeping it small and intimate ensures attention to detail which sets us apart. Situated on the doorstep of CENTRAL KRUGER NATIONAL PARK in the Klaserie area, Camp Bethel may be booked as part of a Self drive tour package with tours included or booked as optionals or an All inclusive package which includes airport transfers as well. Tents are positioned in Natural Bush with General Game like Zebra, Kudu, Nyala and Impala roaming freely. Leopard spotted on occasion and in the evening the roar of Lion is a familiar sound as the camp is surrounded by Big Five Reserves. Guests are accommodated in Canvas Safari Tents Constructed on elevated Wooden Decks. Tents has corrugated roofing structure to ensure cooler temperatures during hot summer months. For the cozy winter evenings, electric blankets are supplied if necessary. Room configuration is either Twin or Queen, en-suite with Toilet, Hand Basin and Shower. Every Tent has a verandah with comfortable chairs and side tables and because of the elevated wooden deck and surrounding trees, the perfect “spot” to enjoy Morning Coffee and Rusks or Sundowner drinks.

Clothing and Accessories:
Choose neutral tones and light fabrics, preferably cotton. These fabrics work best in a hot climate. Pack a couple of long sleeved shirts and a pair of long trousers. The evenings an be chilly and they are also good for keeping insects at bay.
Temperatures in Kruger can vary greatly. In winter you can be very cold on a morning game drive, but perfectly comfortable in sorts and a t-shirt at midday. The secret is to wear several layers that you can take off or add to as needed.
Unless you are doing a walking safari, there is no need to pack heavy duty hiking boots. A good durable pair of trainers is all that is needed. You might also like to pack a pair of sandals for around the lodge or pool.
Many first time visitors to Africa underestimate the strength of the Sun. Choose a hat that has a wide brim to shade your eyes and the back of your neck.
It is a good idea to pack a pair of sunglasses as the glare of the sun during the middle of the day can hurt your eyes, especially if you are not used to it.
Choose a sunscreen with a high SPF or sun protector factor between 30 and 50.
Health and Climate:
The Kruger National Park is in a malaria area. Please consult your doctor about prophylaxis before your trip and do not forget to pack it.
South Africa has typical weather for the Southern Hemisphere, with the coldest days in June-August. The Savannah region is home to the Kruger National Park and many other wildlife destinations. The area enjoys summer rainfall, which means the best time to see wildlife is in the winter. This is when the grass is shortest and visibility is the best. Just be prepared for some icy morning game drives.
Daytime is fairly pleasant year-round, with temperatures seldom dipping below 8 degrees in winter. Expect an average high of 26 degrees in winter, 32 degrees in summer.

Directions:
Eastgate Airport - Turn right when you Exit the Airport Gate towards the R40 Rd Phalaborwa / White River, turn left towards White River on the R40, drive for 15,9 km’s and turn left onto the Guernsey Rd, Continue for 3,8 km’s and Turn Right at the Camp Bethel / Klaserie Caravan Park sign, follow the Sands road to the Property Gate, call Camp Bethel’s Landline number and we will supply you the Sliding Gate Code number to enter. After you enter follow the rd to the Camp Bethel sign 50m further, turn right on Two Track sand Rd towards Camp Bethel through indigenous shrubs and trees to Reception.
