Call of the Wild Lodge is ideally situated in the incredible surroundings of Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate. Being a gateway to the Kruger National Park, we offer affordable accommodation right on the doorstep of the Kruger National Park but with the advantage of being able to cycle, walk and horseride.

Let the sounds of the birds and wildlife awaken all senses at our luxury lodge. A personal experience is provided with the knowledgeable owners Sue and Deon. Their passion for the bush and willingness to share will provide you with an unforgettable experience. The lodge is small and intimate, yet privacy is ensured by having private entrances to the rooms.

Establishment Facilities:
The north facing property has an inviting pool surrounded by a fenced and lawned garden. Relax on the loungers by the pool or sit in the shade of the veranda. There is a lapa which is a built up area around a fire pit. Guests are welcome to braai here however it is communal so you may well be joined around the camp fire to either regale others or hear others’ bush stories

Area Info:

There are wonderful walks through the bush along cycle and horse riding tracks which lead you through unspoilt bushveld where you never know what’s around the next corner. Either others walking or cycling, any of the game that is found and beautiful birds. There are bird hides on the dams, picnic sites, cycling, horseback safaris and walking making it a fantastic outdoor holiday. There are 3 dams with hides for game and bird viewing and a 25km cycle track.

Attractions:

Hoedspruit has many outstanding animal centres, one is Moholoholo Animal Rehabilitation Centre, Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, Camp Jabulani Elephant Experience and Kinyonga Reptile Centre. All are worthy of a visit as they offer unique interactive experiences. A trip to the Blyde River Canyon is a must to see the start of the Drakensburg mountain range and where there are either hikes or boat trips along the Blyde River. Slightly further is Graskop Gorge Lift which is a spectacular journey into the forest below.

African Hoopoe

Situated next door to Kingfisher Corner, African Hoopoe is a large room with a daybed to sleep one child or additional adult. The bathroom has both indoor and outdoor showers and the view from the bed is of the garden and bush beyond.

Coly Cottage

A beautiful, brand new, fully equipped self catering cottage. One large room with lounge, dining, bed and separate kitchen, bathroom with shower and outdoor shower. The sleeper couch can sleep 1 additional adult or 2 children.

Sleeps 3 Adults and 1 child

Hornbill Haven

This room has a bath only in the main en-suite bathroom. Access is gained along a walkway around the house, onto a balcony and through a sliding door. Either a king bed or 2 single beds can be made up.

Sleeps 2 Adults

Kingfisher Corner

This room is set apart from the main house. Access is gained via a private entrance from the car park. In the morning, one would walk along the wooden walkway to the veranda, where breakfast is served. The room is fitted with a queen sized bed.

Sleeps 2 Adults

Sunbird Suite

Consists of 2 double sized bedrooms with a shared bathroom. The bathroom has both bath and shower. The suite is only suitable for a family or couples or 4 individuals who know each.

Sleeps 4 Adults

Whole House

Large, modern, thatched, luxury lodge comprising 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, lounge, veranda, kitchen, pantry, pool, boma, garden. Minimum stay of 5 days over holiday periods.

- If cancelling 14 days before arrival, forfeit 100% of the deposit.
- If cancelling 21 days before arrival, forfeit 50% of the deposit.
- If cancelling 30 days before arrival, forfeit 25% of the deposit.

Directions:

Call of the Wild Lodge is 12km north from Hoedspruit Eastgate airport. When you exit the airport, turn right and continue to Klaserie Rd/R40 (5 minutes / 5km). Turn right onto Klaserie Rd/R40. Travel 7 minutes / 7km until you reach first stop street in Hoedspruit. Turn right as this is the start of Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate and is marked with statues of Warthogs. After 200m is the entrance to the wildlife estate. Your name will be at the security check point. Once you have entered the estate, turn right. This is Knoppiesdoring Street. We are number 349 on the left, after 3 min (1.5 km).
