In creating Bundox Explorer Camp on a private concession of the Olifants West section of the Greater Kruger’s Olifants West Game Reserve, we addressed the questions of what makes a great safari great and what you really need when staying in the bush.

Area Info:

The camp is situated in the Greater Kruger Park close to Hoedspruit in the Lowveld. Located in the Balule Private Nature Reserve, this Big Five private concession is where guests will enjoy game drives  through rugged Lowveld terrain and along the Olifants River.

So what should you pack?

Light, cotton clothing in light tones, Long Sleeved Shirt and Trousers, A Lightweight Waterproof Jacket, A Good Pair of Trainers or Hiking Shoes, A Wide Brimmed Hat.

Sunscreen  -  Choose a sunscreen with a high SPF or sun protection factor of between 30 and 50. Do not underestimate the power of the African sunshine - the last thing you want on holiday is a bas sunburn or sunstroke.

Health and Climate:

Hoedspruit is 539m above sea level. The climate here is considered to be a local steppe climate. There is little rainfall throughout the year. This climate is considered to be BSh according to the Köppen-Geiger climate classification. The average annual temperature is 21.2 °C | 70.2 °F in Hoedspruit. In a year, the rainfall is 450 mm | 17.7 inch.

February is the warmest month of the year. The temperature in February averages 24.4 °C | 75.9 °F. The lowest average temperatures in the year occur in July, when it is around 16.2 °C | 61.2 °F

• Once the booking is confirmed and then canceled an admin fee of 15% of the deposit will be charged

Other Cancellation Fees:
• Deposit forfeited between 60 and 46 days of arrival: 30%
• Deposit forfeited between 45 and 31 days of arrival: 70%
• Deposit/payment forfeited 30 days or less from arrival: 100%

RESERVATION TERMS & CONDITIONS
These terms and conditions will apply to all bookings made or amended by any person, whether a booking is made by an agent or Tour Operator for its clients or by a guest making a booking directly.
ALL RESERVATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO THE ACCEPTANCE OF OUR STANDARD TERMS AND CONDITIONS WHICH ARE SENT TO YOU IN A SEPARATE ATTACHMENT

GENERAL
• Rates are based on per person per night sharing unless otherwise stated.
• Quoted in South African Rand (ZAR) unless otherwise stated.
• South African rates include 15% VAT
• VAT is determined by South African Government Regulations and is subject to change
• Rates are valid for the year 2024.

GUEST POLICIES
• Strictly no pets allowed on any premises.
• Smoking is permitted in designated areas.
• Littering and feeding of animals are prohibited.
• Check-in time: 2 pm / Check-out time: 10 am

SINGLE RATE
Single occupancy of a room against a special will be allocated on a fair use basis (50% single rate applies)

PAYMENT POLICY
• A 50% deposit is to be made within 48 hours to confirm the booking.
• A booking is held as provisional until the deposit is received.
• The balance of payment is due 30 days before arrival.
• If a booking is made within 45 days of arrival, full payment is due on confirmation.

ACCESS
FLY:
• Daily flights to Hoedspruit’s Eastgate Airport from Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport and Cape Town International Airport.
DRIVE:
• 30 minutes by road to the Olifants West Gate of Olifants West Game Reserve from Eastgate Airport.
Transfers can be arranged. You will be collected at the Olifants West Gate.
• Six hours by road from Johannesburg, via Polokwane and Tzaneen (recommended route)

Children Policy


BUNDOX EXPLORER CAMP
• Children aged 6 – 12 are welcome provided the camp is booked out exclusively.
• Children of 12 and over are charged at the full adult per person per night sharing rate
• Children aged 16 and over are welcome at Bundox Explorer Camp.
• Children under 16 will not be allowed to walk.
• Parents are reminded that this is a semi-fenced camp and all children are to be strictly supervised by their parents or guardians at all times
