Be My Guest Bed; Book & Breakfast is a new 3-bedroom B&B and is situated in a quiet street in the heart of Melville - Johannesburg.  The quietness of the area, the books and bird life in our lush garden easily helps visitors to forget that they are in the middle of South Africa’s busiest city.  The attractions on 7th street like boutiques, bookshops, coffee bars and restaurants are just a easy walk away.  Melville will be your home far away from home.

In 2007 Anke and Maarten decided to follow their dream and change the landscape of their future when they moved from the Netherlands to South Africa.  Anke works for a engineering company in Jo’burg and Maarten (who originally) a social worker by profession will be your host at the B&B.  We love South Africa and JOZI or the city of Gold as many people call her.  Melville is our community and we love sharing the stories with you about our city and the Melville community.

Guests who visit us will experience our typical South African / Dutch hospitality.  Set on a large secluded Melville property with a beautiful garden and a pool, Be My Guest Bed; Book & Breakfast has a gentle sense of peace and harmony.  The 3 en-suite rooms are all specious, light and stylish with double or single beds.  The central part of the B&B is our patio in summertime and our fireplace in wintertime.  On many of our perfect mornings you will be able to enjoy breakfast in the garden or join a friendly conversation in our open plan kitchen or dining area.

Area Info:

You will find a mix of university students and academics, artists, media professionals, politicians and rights activists. People of all colours of life join the community of Melville. The University of Witwatersrand, University of Johannesburg, the Central Business District, the South African Broadcasting Corporation SABC, Milpark Hospital are all within 10 minutes from Melville. It’s one of the few neighborhoods in Jo’burg that is situated in a community lined with local shops, restaurants and nightlife rather than the more modern shopping malls.

Within safe walking distance you’ll be on 7th Street, with some of Joburg’s favourite restaurants, bars, cafes, specialty bookstores, vintage stores and the 27 Boxes. For nature outings you will find the Melville Koppies, Zoo lake and the Jo’burg Botanical gardens a nature reserve where you can find many bird and plant species. It’s also the place for hiking, biking and running and provide awesome views of the city. Melville is a perfect starting point for touring all of the local historical attractions, like: Constitutional Court, Apartheid Museum, Soweto, Maboneng Precinct, the Botanical Gardens, the Zoo and much more.
