Unique Fauna & Flora abound in this bird-watchers and wildlife paradise. Bateleur Nature Reserve is famous for its SAHTOA accredited Stamvrug Hiking Trails, consisting of a collection of circular and day trails, laid out amongst the kloofs and escarpments. Stay in self-catering secluded farmhouses, cabins, or bush camps. Enjoy hiking, trail-running, game viewing, bird-watching (Kloof Bird Hide), mountain biking, swimming, and fishing (catch and release). After reporting to reception, you are on your own at Bateleur Nature Reserve. Once settled at the accommodation of your choice, you are requested to restrict driving to an absolute minimum. Bateleur Nature Reserve is best explored on foot. You have the freedom to explore the gorges and rocky krantzes of the Waterberg, or go swimming in the clear bilharzia-free rock pools. The Reserve offers you the freedom to be on your own in the bush to live and explore as you wish. The area is classified as malaria-free. Summer days are warm to hot (low humidity) with thunderstorms. Winter days are mild and sunny. The nights can be chilly. Bateleur Nature Reserve is not a Resort. Bateleur Nature Reserve maintains a very strict view of visitors disturbing other visitors in any way particularly so with Sound Systems. Bateleur Nature Reserve does particularly not allow NOISE POLUTION of any kind.

All units are basic and rustic, not luxurious - with the emphasis on a beautiful secluded settings with a view and the sound of nature. On-site facilities include braai areas with grids. Wood can be purchased on the farm. Our rooms are all non-smoking and have private bathrooms.

Mispel Cottage is quaint and comfortable. It is fully equipped for self-catering and sleeps up to six people. A couple in a double bed, 3 singles in the 2nd Bedroom, and an extra bed in the living area. Both bedrooms have en-suite with showers.
The spacious Mountain Villa is carved into the mountainside with breath-taking views of the plateau, the upper wetland and typical Waterberg mountain scenery. The Villa has five bedrooms and three bathrooms.
Stone Cottage is a romantic and cosy self-catering cottage built from the stone found in the environment. The living area opens up onto a veranda with a panoramic view across the reserve and the Waterberg mountains in the distance.
Vaalboom Cottage #7 is a small, rustic, affordable cottage, which sleeps three people in an open-plan layout. It has an outside braai area and a lovely view across the savanna and the Waterberg mountains in the distance.

Directions to Bateleur Nature Reserve from Gauteng. From Johannesburg or Pretoria, take the N1 North, direction Polokwane (Pietersburg). Pass through the Pumulani Toll Plaza and continue through the Carousel Toll Plaza. Follow the N1 and take the R516 Bela-Bela (Warmbaths) / Settlers turn off (exit 238), to your left. After 10 kilometres at the T-junction, turn right into the the old Pretoria/Warmbaths road. Pass the Bela-Bela Waterfront on your left. Cross the railway bridge and take the slipway to the left into Potgieter road. Follow the road and find an Arts and Crafts centre on your right. At the traffic lights, take the slipway to the left into Chris Hani Street. Pass the entrance to the Warmbaths/Forever Spa Resort on your left. (Note 3-fountains) Turn immediately right into Grobler street (just after the municipal building). The street name changes to Robertson Road. Drive to the fourth 4-way stop street. You are now leaving town. Phone us at 079 161-5969 via WhatsApp, so we know you are on your way. Head North-West direction Alma, Ranking Pass, Warmbaths Dam and Elements Golf Estate for 10km. At the shooting ranch turn right into Nooitgedacht road. Continue for 17km (gravel road) and find Bateleur Nature Reserve on your left. Note our black sliding gate and KROONVLEI on the wall. Make sure you have the PINCODE for the gate and follow the numbers to your unit.
