Bateleur Nature Reserve
Escape to the tranquillity and seclusion of The Waterberg at Bateleur Nature Reserve - with more than 3,000 hectares to explore.

Indulge in the beauty of nature with deep gorges and clear rock pools. Unique Fauna and Flora abound in this bird-watchers` and wildlife paradise. Bateleur Nature Reserve is famous for its SAHTOA accredited Stamvrug Hiking Trails, consisting of seven different circular - and day trails, laid out amongst the kloofs and Escarpments.

Stay in self-catering secluded farmhouses, Cabins or Base Camps.

Enjoy hiking, game viewing, bird watching, mountain biking, swimming and fishing but first and foremost relaxing in The Waterberg Wilderness.

After reporting to reception, you are on your own at Bateleur Nature Reserve. Once settled at the accommodation of your choice, you are requested to restrict driving to an absolute minimum. The Reserve is best explored on foot. You have the freedom to explore the gorges and rocky krantzes of The Waterberg, or go swimming in the clear bilharzia-free rock pools.

The Reserve offers you the freedom to be on your own in the bush to live and explore as you wish. In so doing, gain a more intimate knowledge of, and be entertained by the Waterberg’s unique eco-system.

The area is classified as malaria-free. Summer days are warm to hot (low humidity) with thunderstorms. Winter days are mild and sunny. The nights can be chilly.

Stone Cottage
This comfortable, self-catering unit is situated on a North-facing gradient looking North-East. A Wrap around Stoep provides you with breathtaking views of the Waterberg. You will find a well equipped braai area under the trees.

Vaalboom Cottage
Vaalboom #C is a comfortable 2-sleeper for the budget conscious couple. It is fully equipped for the Self catering with all linen, crockery, cutlery and electrical kitchen equipment. Situated in the Game Breeding Camp you can expect Game on your stoep.

Mountain Villa
Carved high into the mountainside with a breathtaking view of the plateau, the upper wetland and typical Waterberg mountain scenery, nestles this spacious villa. Mountain Villa has a large dining-room/lounge and a family- or conference room.

Mispel Cottage
Apart from its breathtaking view of the Waterberg Mountain range, Mispel Cottage # 5 overlooks a watering hole. Visitors can expect to see most game from their front stoep. It has two bedrooms, both en-suite.

Kloof Cottage
Kloof Cottage is a rustic six sleeper. It forms part of the Kloof Base Camp, but is fully equipped. It has its own en-suite bathroom and kitchenette. It has electric lighting only and works on gas. The Cottage has quick access to all trails.

Gum Cottage
This quaint two-bedroom cottage sleeps up to 6 and is situated among huge Bluegum trees. Is has a spacious lounge/dining room with an open fireplace and outside braai.

Loved the log fire at night

Needs a little maintenace on a few things in the Cabin. But overall a very good relaxing experience. If you like star gazing this is an excellent place to go to!
