Ashanti Guest House are ideally located in the Gardens suburb of Cape Town city. All rooms have been renovated in early 2025 and now have bar fridges, aircon, bedside charging points and beautiful new decor in keeping with the Victorian-era building.
Some of us love the vibe, atmosphere, friendliness and information provided by a backpackers lodge but at the end of the day prefer to be a little more pampered with a private bathroom, unlimited free wi-fi and tea/coffee station in the room, then the Ashanti Guesthouses are for you.
Located a mere 2 minutes walk from Ashanti Backpackers Lodge Gardens the guest houses are two Victorian buildings and this is where we have double (some king size), twin and triple en-suite rooms and even one with a double bed and 2 single beds which is perfect for a family (kids under 3 stay free and 3-16 pay 50%).
The two houses also each have their own communal kitchen for you to use if you are too tired from Cape Town’s adventure activities to walk down the road to Kloof street and it’s many restaurants. The wrap-around balconies are perfect for planning the next day’s adventures.

When driving from the Cape Town airport or coming from the Garden Route, just continue along the N2 towards Cape Town city centre. Please make sure you follow directions to Cape Town as we have had newcomers go in the wrong direction.
Continue on the N2 for about 10 minutes and as you come up to the mountain keep right and continue towards the city - following the signs. Take the De Waal Drive turn-off to the left when the road forks and continue driving around the mountain.
Just off De Waal Drive you need to take the Mill Street turn-off. This will take you past a large shopping centre (Gardens Centre) on your left hand side and then you drive through two sets of traffic lights.
The next road left (after the second set of lights at Upper Orange Street) is Hof St. It is just before the Mount Nelson hotel, so if you see that you know you have gone too far. We are two blocks up on the left hand side a large yellow building.
Children of all ages are welcome.
