Aquila Game Reserve is named after the rare and endangered resident Black Eagles and boasts a breathtakingly beautiful 7500 hectare Karoo conservancy.
Proudly, for the first time in 250 years one can experience a Big-5, day trip safari under 2 hours from Cape Town, where visitors can enjoy a game drive experience among lions and other members of the Big 5 as well as an enormous variety and amount of safari wildlife.
The Reserve is set in the malaria free famous Fynbos, Succulent Karoo and extremely rare Renosterveld vegetation that was once the favorite hunting grounds of the ancient Khoi/San hunter-gatherers.

Accommodation at Aquila Game Reserve
Aquila Lodge
Situated adjacent to the restaurant is the newly built Aquila Lodge, comprising 3 levels, accessible by a glass panelled lift with magnificent Karoo vistas, with 22 rooms facing the reserve and the mountains and another 22 rooms facing away from the reserve. Modern Afro-chic interior design is used in the lodge.
Aquila Cottages
Aquila’s four-star cottages are built largely from rock, thatch and wood to blend with the environment and offer every comfort like roaring log fires, air conditioning, crisp percale linen, rock bathrooms and, in some, alfresco rock showers and in some cases wooden viewing decks.
Aquila Full Day Trip Safaris
Morning Safari - Full Day
The 2 to 3 hour safari departs at 10:15am. The safari is led by an experienced guide who will share exciting inside stories: facts about your surroundings, easily rousing your inner wild side.
The Cape Town safari day tour includes a continental breakfast and lunch, and cool off dips at one of two breathtaking swimming pools. All safaris are in an open 4 x 4 safari vehicle.
Quad Bike Safari - Full Day
The quad bike safari day tour involves roughing it up within the 10,000 hectare conservancy of Aquila Game Reserve. This full day tour also includes both breakfast and lunch as well as a 2 to 3 hour game drive in a traditional open safari vehicle.
Guests may also chose to purchase a scheduled departure transfer from selected hotels in Cape Town.
Combo Safari - Full Day
The Aquila combo safari combines a 3 hour game drive and a 1.5 hour horseback or quad bike outride. Both breakfast and lunch are included and guests do have the option of purchasing a seat on the scheduled departure transfers from selected Cape Town Hotels.

Aquila Half Day Safaris
Early Morning Safari - Half Day
The early morning safari ensures that you get to be on the game drive as the animals start stirring. You need to be at Aquila Private Game Reserve no later than 07:00 am and the safari will include a continental breakfast pack.
Afternoon Safari - Half Day
Arrive at the reserve at 12noon for a buffet lunch followed by a 2 to 3 hour game drive. This safari package has the option of adding a schedule departure transfer from selected hotels in Cape Town.
Sunset Safari - Half Day
Arrive at Aquila Private Game Reserve by 15:00. After a hot day in the African bush the animals are just starting to stir, moving towards the watering holes and coming out of the shade. It includes a selection of tea and coffee as well as some tea time snacks.

Family Lodge Room
Our Mountain View and Standard Lodge Rooms can be converted to Luxury Family Suites. The interconnect by a common passage way. The entrance to the passageway may be locked as can both bedrooms forming a private and safe space for families.

Follow the N1 highway from Cape Town for approximately 130km.
The road will take you past Paarl, through the Huguenot tunnel, past Worcester, De Doorns and through the Hex River Valley.
Approximately 30 km after De Doorns and just past the road sign indicating “10km to Touws River,” you will get to the R46 turnoff to Ceres.
Take the turnoff to the left. Follow the road for approximately 3km.
You will find the Aquila Private Game Reserve main entrance on your left-hand side.
