Popular and long standing family run establishment (est. 1999) situated only 50m from the beach at Ansteys Beach on the Bluff, a leafy suburb 15 kms south of Durban and 40kms from King Shaka Airport. Favoured by business and leisure travellers, sports & tour groups, we cater for all budgets and offer 11 fully equipped thoughtfully decorated Self Catering Apartments (2, 4 or 6 sleepers), Private air conditioned Rooms (Backpackers), and budget Backpacker dorms, doubles, twins and single cabins.
In Room Facilities:
All Self Catering Apartments come fully equipped with kitchens, air-conditioning (some), DSTV Hotel Package and some have sea views. Apartments are serviced daily, except for Sundays and Public Holidays. Please note, servicing does not include washing of dishes. Private Rooms (Backpackers) : 3 separate rooms in one house sharing a bathroom and separate toilet. Bar fridge, kettle. Shared communal kitchen, dining room and lounge in main Backpackers building. Budget Backpacker dorms, doubles and twins are not ensuite – shared communal bathrooms. Communal kitchen, dining room and TV lounge in main building.

Heidi’s Cafe - a wonderfully quaint little cafe with exceptionally priced meals. Outdoor swimming pool with multiple barbecue areas. Pool table and small licensed bar. Small surf/curio shop next to the backpackers communal lounge. Bicycles, surf and bodyboard rentals.
Close to many shops, shopping centres and restaurants, as well as all the major tourist attractions in KZN such as uShaka Marine World, Suncoast Casino, the ICC and the Sports Stadiums. Durban beachfront is only 15 kms from Ansteys, and King Shaka Airport 40 kms away. For our business clients, we are within close proximity to all the industrial centres – Jacobs, Maydon Wharf, Prospecton, Clairwood, Bayhead etc. The Bluff is rich in beautiful beaches and lifeguard protected swimming beaches, good consistent surf and warm seawater all year. STRICTLY NO CHECK INS AFTER10 PM as Reception closes at 10pm. We will not be held responsible for arrivals after 10pm and no refunds for arrivals after 10pm. Check out time 09h00 (failure to check out after 9am will result in an extra night charge).
ID/PASSPORT REQUIRED WHEN CHECKING IN - keys will not be handed over without proper identification.
BREAKAGE AND DISTURBANCE DEPOSIT (REFUNDABLE) : A Breakage and Disturbance deposit is payable in cash on arrival. This will be refunded via EFT within 3-5 working days, provided all our Terms and Conditions have been met and room/apartment is left in good order.
SMOKING: Ansteys has a strict NO SMOKING policy in all flats and communal living areas. Do not discard cigarette butts in pot plants or in the garden/parking area - please use the ashtrays provided.
ALCOHOL: No alcohol to be brought on or removed from these premises as there is a licensed bar on site.
*Condition of Entry/Residence: I/We hereby agree that I/We enter the premises including the parking, garden, pool and other areas at my/our own risk and that it is a condition of my/our occupation of the premises that I/we specifically agree and accept that the company and/or each and any of its respective subsidiary and associated companies, and their respective members, employees, contractors, agents or representatives (hereinafter jointly and severally referred o as the “company”) shall not be responsible for any accident or bodily injury to any person or loss of or damage to property brought by me/us upon the premises regardless of whether such injury, loss or damage results from the negligence of the company or from any other cause whatsoever. I/We indemnify (where more than one person, jointly and severally) the company against any claim by any person accompanying me, including especially any minor or disabled person in connection with his/her occupation of or his/her presence or the presence of his/her property on or about the premises, including specifically without being limited thereto, any claims arising from injury to such person and/or loss of or damage to his/her property as aforementioned and from any cause whatsoever. Wi-Fi : All Guests are welcome to benefit from our Free Wi-Fi Hotspots available throughout Ansteys Beach Backpackers and Heidi’s Cafe. We kindly ask that guests who use the facility do not abuse it. This includes but not limited to: Downloading Games, Movies and Larger files (10mb +)Uploading Large files such as Videos and Pictures. (10mb +) Visiting Illicit or indecent websites. Downloading Illegal material. Any users that are caught abusing the facility will be subject to one or more of the following actions: Internet throttling, prioritizing services to other users Temporary/Permanent disconnection Reporting improper usage to the Authorities Fined, relevant to the damages caused. There are operating monitoring systems which will detect when fair usage policy is broken and will notify Ansteys Staff. Please be considerate of other Guests on site, as excessive downloading will result in slower internet speeds for everyone
From the N2 or M4 take the Solomon Mahlangu (Edwin Swales) turn off and head east toward the Bluff beaches. Once on Marine Drive, make your way down to Ansteys Beach (Foreshore Drive). You will see a beach restaurant on your left after the first speed bump. The small roadway leading to our property is on the right just after the restaurant. Look out for the large Ansteys Beach Self Catering & Backpackers sign at the bottom of the driveway wall. Go up roadway to Reception.
